Hi all,
thanks for the info. I am still wondering if the DF antenna was operated all the time or only when contacts with enemy ships were expected. Anyway, l learned a lot about the DF antenna. Thanks. Cheers, LGN1 |

It is my impression too, that the antenna stayed in the lowered position most of the time but was used more often in the patrol grid assigned to the U-boat. |

1) Radio direction finder antennae rotates by wheel to similarly rotation of a radar antennae. 2) Not all submarines had a direction finder attachment to Keln E-526 (or T9K39 Main). |

At cinema I saw automobile RDF and its antenna did a full turn. |

i would have the antenna always raised If i was a kaleun
You donīt know when a group of ships sailing in radio silence could transmit something. my boat is always in war and looking for targets.:arrgh!: |
Good points, Hartmann. Also, if the radio guy's not looking for signals, what am I paying him for?!:damn:
