If there was a delay, I don't believe it would be related to the game's rating. The rating was changed from 7+ to 'Teen...mild violence' some time ago to accommodate the increased visual reality.

That would be wishful thinking for all of us if they did put Uboats in.

Besides, Ubi is always coming up with a 2 week delay, look at the IL2 series. It's just SOP for them.

Or..... maybe they had to take out all the guns and torpedos for the players in Germany. You know, anything that shoots. ;) ;)

News from germany: all torps and shells have been replaced with fluffy teddy bears, all weapon fireing sounds have been replaced with sounds of childs laughter.

Actually, that might be creepier...

DaMaGe007 02-09-07 07:37 AM

We can all laugh now, but just wait till it happens :)

Amazon De may just have it wrong, or it may be a world wide delay that the american sites havent picked up on yet, wont know untill its in your hot little hands.

I Concider it a lightning fast development cycle, if they deliver a good product they deserve a pat on the back (even with a week delay) but I am definatly concerned.

Edit: One day we may be buying Computer games from shady people on street corners, and hiding ourselves away enjoying our addiction in secret.

If there was a delay, either the Beta testing threw up a problem/problems which need more time to fix, or the age old battle over optimizing and the game's specs is still undecided.

Ubisoft are still wanting this game released with a 512MB minimum RAM requirement, and the DEVS need the minimum RAM set at 1 GIG. This same argument went on behind the scenes with SH3, where Ubisoft wanted minimum RAM set at 256MB and the DEVS wanted 512MB. Ultimately the DEVS won.

StandingCow 02-09-07 07:50 AM

If us on the american side see a delay, then yea.. something is up.. but right now it just seems like an outside of US issue.

flintlock 02-09-07 08:46 AM

Couldn't help but laugh at this - 7 day delay and you guys are getting all worked up! I'd like SH4 released as soon the the next person, but I'd have rather seen a 7 month delay from Ubi to give the devs time and breathing room to add features/enhancements to the title. Just imagine what this talented dev team could accomplish without working under Ubisoft's accelerated development cycle for this project.

hyperion2206 02-09-07 09:26 AM

It's not a big deal that SH4 gets delayed, but it's just sad that Ubisoft announced a release date which has to be delayed. Why can't the devs do their job and when everything is fine Ubisoft annouces a release date? I know, I know... it's just a Utopia.

TDK1044 02-09-07 09:35 AM

I would like to point out that there is no evidence of a delay anywhere except Germany, which may well be a local issue and nothing to do with Ubisoft.

If the game was to be delayed worldwide....so what? The complaint with SH3 was that it was released too early and it wasn't ready. If there is any need to delay this game then they should delay it until it's really ready for release.

I'd rather wait until April than have to patch the game like last time.

Iron Budokan 02-09-07 10:11 AM

Wow, the game will be delayed. There's a effing surprise.

GT182 02-09-07 10:13 AM

I agree with Flintlock. If a delay means less problems with playability, then let's thank them for that. Anticipation of SH4s release and now it's delays won't kill you, but banging your head on the wall because the sim won't work as it should sure will. So remember to pull the nails out or make sure the wall is clear of foriegn objects. ;)

Yep, exactly. If you have to deal with a new game having a ton of issues, and get pissed at it, it can ruin the enjoyment, even when they do get it working.

flintlock 02-09-07 11:07 AM

Once the honeymoon period is over (you've ripped off the cellophane wrapper from the box - hey, it's a short honeymoon) you need a solid and stable gameplay experience or it's back to the Atlantic for the interim! ;)

PS. I'm confident that the dev team will deliver though.

Maybe preorder from other onlinestore - play.com or Sendit.com. I've just checked and in sendit it is still 16th March.

02/10/2007 1500 hrs ( 3pm ) Central Standard Time USA, EBgames still says "Ships 3/13/07"

I just ckecked a different site (for all German users: www.thalia.de ) and they say that they expect SH4 to be released on 15.03.07. I've sent them an email asking which release date is the correct one.

This is so QFT!
SH3 was a technical nightmare for some. And it had at least a few problems for everyone. So much hate flowing on the forums when it was first released. Was a bad scene.
I vote they keep the game as long as they need it to ensure (as much as possible) a finished product upon release.

Hey, as I echoed in a post above, I'm all for waiting as long as necessary to get a stable, full-featured product in my hands. That said, I've never understood the disdain that some harbor for patches. As far as I'm concerned, patches are a good thing. They're not always released just to fix things (though fixing things is good in my book), they often enhance the gameplay experience and sometimes they add new content and other goodies. Once SH4 is finally released, I'll be welcoming any patches Ubi sees fit to release. Patches also show continued developer support.
