FDR was great, but Donitz was the best leader in the list IMO. Bernard is already a bullet sponge so I don't think it would make a difference with one more.

_Seth_ 12-02-06 01:53 PM

Bernard is my choice. Beeing with him at a party with several VIP's, a bullet is the least bad thing i will expect..

mr chris 12-02-06 02:39 PM

I voted for Churchill , was very shocked to see Bernard leading by a big margin.

Biggles 12-02-06 02:42 PM

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill of course! (look at my sign;)

That ol' coot really deserves our respect. He was never afraid during the war, the only thing that scared him was the U-boat peril (and who can blame him:up: )

He also said this once, and this proves that he was clever too!

Churchill-Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?
-Socialite: My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course...
-Churchill: Would you sleep with me for five pounds?
-Socialite: Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!
-Churchill: Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.

Yeah I voted for ole Winston too

If the man had had his way he would have gone ashore with the first troops on D Day

Now thats a leader

stabiz 12-02-06 03:35 PM

He would have been a dead leader, of course. Probably hard not to notice a large cigar smoking man with cheekyness written all over him.

I voted for him too!

AVGWarhawk 12-02-06 03:39 PM

I took the bullet for Roosevelt. Anyone who can take on the world in a wheelchair and succeeds gets my vote.

12-02-06 04:02 PM

I wouldn't take a bullet for any of those listed.

3Jane 12-02-06 04:12 PM

Hitler got 4 votes :p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Here we go again. That Churchill "quote" was almost certainly not said by Churchill, but by George Bernard Shaw. If it was said by Churchill, it was not to some "socialite", but to his legendary foil Lady Astor. Here are a couple of just as funny, but provable, exchanges between Sir Winston and women:

Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”
Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

hehe, yeah Winston did say some good stuff....but he did also say some things that I think was quite "beatiful".

-I am prepared to meet my maker; whether my maker is prepared to meet me is entirely another matter.

-We will not say thereafter that the Greeks fight like heroes, but heroes fight like the Greeks! (his statement after the greek victory aganst the invading Italian forces.)

-If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.

-When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite.

hoho, ol' Winston did say some clever stuff during his year as a cigar-smoking lad.

For some of the things old Winston didn't say.

stabiz 12-02-06 06:24 PM

Gotta love old Churchy.

Syxx_Killer 12-02-06 06:25 PM

I voted for Bernard. I'll be damned before I take a bullet for some dumb politician.

I have no change when it comes to quote anyone. You are the master of knowledge....master:rotfl:

TarJak 12-02-06 07:44 PM

None of them are worth saving.

andy_311 12-02-06 08:57 PM

I voted for donitz well he out lived the rest of them.

SubConscious 12-02-06 09:31 PM

I wouldn't take a bullet for any of those listed. This said, if I had been born 80 or so years ago, I would have very much liked to have been within shooting range of Hitler.

Personally, I think a better poll question would be something like this:

"Imagine that you are magically transported to August 31, 1939: The day before Germany launches its attack on Poland. You have a finely tuned 1911A1 .45ACP, but you only have three (3) cartridges. You're have a teleportation device that can take you anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye, but after you fire three rounds, you're taken back to the present time (unless you're stupid enough to shoot your parents/grandparents, because you then disappear). You're not allowed to use any other weapons. Who would you shoot and why?"
