SkvyWvr is short for "Skivvy Waver" which is the nickname for a Signalman in the US Navy.
OT @ SheGeek...I lived on Stark Ave for 1 1/2 years in the late 70's. My 1st son was born there. Great town. |
Nothing original here, just my name, Dan Biddle.
|
"AS" - my initials. Reminds of "U-Boat Ace" in German as well.
The German word for Ace is "Ass" which, I know, has a slightly different meaning in English... Cheers, AS |

I chose mine because I play lots of strategy games (Hearts of Iron and such) and Warmonger was an appropriate nickname. |
On my first day of college, I told everyone that lived in my dorm that my name was Mookie. They believed me. After 2 days, I got tired of the joke and told everyone my real name, but the nickname stuck.

Some egyptian thing....Seth & Osiris and that kind a'stuff.....

AVGWarhawk. American Volunteer Group who flown the P-40 Warhawks in defense of the Chinese. It has stuck since CFS2. I just have a lot of respect for those flyers and use it honor them.:rock:Besides, the P-40 is my favorite WWII fighter aircraft. She just has some nice lines!!

This is great:D I love the stories behind the names you have chosen.
I wonder if any members have relatives who were involved with WWII and are honoring them in their username somehow. Oh, and if Gizzmoe should stop in again, please explain your choice;) (is it related to Gremlins, Cuddly & Lovable one day & Green & Grumpy the next?) LOL Keep them coming:up: |

My name was original Respen and is and male elvens name.
When I entered the world of internet (active not passive as I was before) I remembered that name when I wanted to play a MMORPG. But the name felt short, like somethings needs to be put at the end. So I wanted to "latinize" it, so it became "RespenUS". That's how I got my name  And the US part, doesn't mean United States. |
Well mine was easy to remember and I used to fish a lot. Not too complicated. :know:

I picked mine really fast without much thought, unfortunately. It's a minor play on words, in that I wanted to convey awareness of submarines. I have a degree in Social Psychology, hence the interest in the subconscious.
Hmmm... It was probably a subconscious reaction. ;) Had I given it more thought, I probably would have made reference to my father, who served as a Bosun's Mate / Gun Captain aboard three destroyers in WWII: The Hammann went down with the Yorktown at Midway; the Bristol was sunk by U-371 in the Med; and the Isherwood was struck by a kamikaze in Leyte Gulf. He was a lucky guy in that he survived, but you wouldn't necessarily want to be aboard the same ship as him. ;) This is an interesting thread - |
