French is not speak only in France : in Quebec (province of Canada) and in the most countries of the western part of Africa (well, I think there is few DW player in this countries), in some countries/insland in indian ocean and finally there is a law in France : you can't sell a product without a documention (one page at least!) in french.

I think that if a software company, any software company, wants to localize a product, this should be done in a professional manner. Otherwise just don't do it and leave it in english or leave the possibility to the fans or enthusiasts to translate the manual etc. IMO it's incredible that whoever commercialized the product in Europe did not discover these incompatibilities. And I don't think it's a question of loving or not the product you're going to sell, it's just a matter of being professional when doing one's job.

Was anyone invited to Beta test the localised versions?

I don't know, if they took full responsibilty from SCS as Jamie has explained then they were responsible for releasing it in a complete and tested manner.

Has anyone e-mailed Davide and asked him what is going on. He does answer quickly even if I don't get his logic.

I've been in conversation with BB since january 2006. We made a deal where our community will be supporting the FR release and welcome new players, in exchange BB printed our community logo on the FR box. I know the french distributor (Nobilis) also used our logo for advertising in gaming magazines.

About the box content, it was clear in my mind after some mail exchange with BB that the whole content would be translated. So I guess they changed their mind.

In the last email I had from BB (some days ago), they told me they couldn't translate the full size manual for budget reasons and I can understant that. But I'm pretty sure I can say at the same time without lying that most of the people here would agree to pay more to get the 'Deluxe Stuff' to be able to really enjoy the game without asking tons and tons of questions on the forum. After all, most of the old DW FR players when they ordered their copy from Battlefront, didn't hesitate a second and paid for the one with the full english manual. Maybe if they had asked...

Never heard about a beta EU testing.

I really backup what you said. Some of the players only speak their native tongue and english sounds like ancient chinese to them maybe why the Toubon's law exist here as Galileo said (don't know for other EU countries).

Yea, Italiy is a great place, Italians are the kindest people on Earth, I never questioned that..just go there for a week, you will be happy as ever...
