I'm with Italy because... My team sucked this time, and I don't like some french players... No greater reason.:arrgh!:

Unfortunately that doesn't excuse Zidane's action, even moreso when you're playing your last match and you still have 10 minutes to go where you could make the difference with Trezeguet.
Zidane getting the red card is what in my opinion got the French to loose the match even if they played far better than the Italian team.
Oh well ;), to win the world cup you also need a little bit of luck, and yesterday night the Italians got it.

Congratulations, Italy. Great show.

Discipline even when being targetted by tough words must be demanded from a pro who earny more money per match than really working people earn in half a year. collecting reds or yellows for starting to react such thiungs in words or deeds is unexcusable. That's as if a navy officer fires a missiles by frustration over that his wife has left him. Unacceptable.
It's not the first time that Zidane showed such behavior. His career marks several such incidents.

Yes, the referee should have give a second penalty and yellow card (Florent Malouda versus Marco Materazzi) :hmm:

Yes... sure... considering that the first penalty was inexistent it sort of balances out ;)

According to a swedish newspapper. Materazzi should have said "you're a terrorist" to zidane. the same papper also quoted french press, here Materazzi should have talked dirty about his mom.

A newspaper from Brazil said that he had called Zidane's sister a whore

Zidane is from northen africa and is a moslem.

Congratulations, team Italy.
As it turned out, it seems that the match-fixing scandal at home did not distract the players, of which some of them do not know about the future of their clubs, but gave them an extra-motivation to play for the honour of the Italian football. That is at least my impression. When I placed my money bet on the world cup outcome, I had that "feeling" that this would probably make the Italians even more dangerous in terms of going for the cup. IT was the best answer the players could give anyway. They are not to blame for the scandal but nonetheless are hit by it.

So, I tip my hat and say: " Forza Italia".

My favourite Italian player is Gattuso who had said that in case he would "score a goal in the final, then there will never again be snow in Germany".:)

Also, congrats, Lippi, job well done. As a club coach, he lost the Champions League final 3 times. So yesterday, it was his triumphant day finally. Now, IL Maestro can go fishing with his buddies.
As for the rest of us,
see you again when it is time to find out the Euro Champion 2008 in Austria/Switzerland resp. the Champion of the World 2010 in South-Africa.

If the following is correct, then I don’t blame zidane for his actions against Materazzi.

Materazzi said “You’re a son of a terrorist whore”

I have two question

1 What kind of penalty will Matarazzi get?

2 Did the italian coach give the order to Materazzi?

No excuse for what Zidane did, but Matarazzi should definately get sanctioned, especailly if the allegations are true and considering FIFA's anti-racism stand.

Ah well, congrats to Italy, solid defence and it has been a long time.
