You're saying the Afghanis teed off the Russians (Soviets) so that's why the USSR invaded? Hmm, I always thought it was a stepping stone to the warm water port they've been wanting for so many years...

From what I heard, it was some form of terrorist attacks coming from that area that the rest of the world was not aware of at the time.

Well, the last time I checked, the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979 after a communist govenment took power a few months earlier. The Russians weren't happy with the way the current president (Hafizullah Amin) was dealing with the Muhajadeen, so they occupied Kabul, killed Amin, and replaced him with Babrak Karmal. Of course, we all know that Muslims and Communists get along in perfect harmony. :damn:

That sounds like the official reason, but there was a lot of mystery surrounding the real reasons brought up by the show i watched.

And one of those muhajadeen people was Osama. Damn Soviets didn't do anything right in that campaign.
