If you really want to simulate this you can give one of the sub TA a positive buoyancy and keep the other the same. One can be your above the layer TA and the other can be your normal TA |

I think we understand what you mean... but it just isn't done as far as we know, and people get paid a lot of money to think of things like this and engineer them. |

I remember a discussion long time ago, on the sub command forum, i think. Where someone told that the towed arrays on US subs actualy have an adjustable buoyancy feature and that it's possible to determone the angle of the incomming signal, what in turns helps to determine the depth of the emitter.

Skimmers don't have to come to periscope depth to receive/send comms or for ELINT missions. The array is slightly negative so the array can go below the layer while at slow speeds while you (the platform) are above the layer. It also allow streaming the array while at PD.
The floating wire antenna will float at the surface, but the drawback of it, particularly near land, is that seagulls will actually sit on the wire. Too bad that isn't modeled in DW or SC. |
