Gizzmoe call me stupid but where is the exact line to draw between expansion and a Add-On ??
From Wiki An expansion pack is an addition to an existing game. These add-ons mostly add new game areas, weapons, objects, and/or an extended storyline to a complete and already released game. Add-ons are optional computer hardware or software modules that supplement or enhance the original unit they are adding on to. Also known as plugins, extensions, snap-ins, or various other vendor-specific names, these modules often have proprietary interfaces that are tightly held by the company that manufactured the original unit in order to prevent competing companies from producing add-ons |

If both are the same then where is the difference in Wolfmanns official Extension and my Add-On ???

Ok, again: You said that Wulfmann claims that X-1 (Seewolves) is an official add-on/expansion pack. I said that he´d didn´t, he just said that Seawolves is the only "official" expansion/add-on, because they are the only ones to have UBIsoft permission to make a payware expansion/add-on to SH3. |
X-1 is a parasite company.
Their quest for stealing people's work is not limited to SH 3 community only. In the past, they have stolen many free airplane skins for their addons for simulators called IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles and Pacific Fighters. No matter what they do now, there is no way I am buying ANYTHING from them EVER. |

By the way I wouldn't touch their stuff with a hand grenade.

Gizzoe I'm talking about what you said here:

He said "... the Seawolves Mediterranean is the only "official" expansion package." I don't think many of us here make the distinction that you seem to be making between an "official add-on" and an "official expansion package". |

Wulfmann also wrote "they are the only ones to have UBIsoft permission to make a payware add on to SH3." I´ve never tried to make an distinction, all I´ve said is that Wulfmann never said that Seawolves is a real official expansion pack, add-on or whatever you want to call it. |
Alright, whatever. Its still enough twisting and turning to make one's head spin all to point out that this loathesome parasite company supposedly has permission to peddle an expansion/add-on.
|
Not "supposedly", they do have the permission. The proof is in the shops and on the Internet. You can buy their SH3 add-on since September 2005 in Germany and Switzerland, also soon in the UK.
|
Interestingly my only reaction is to wonder how much of it is other people's code/artwork used without permission or compensation.
Alas, I'm not curious enough to buy it to find out though. |
How can we fight over this? Let me count the ways.
No, I will be dead in the 30-40 years that may take! Seawolves is not published by UBI. They have UBI’s permission to make an expansion package to sell. When last year someone tried to do this without permission UBI axed it. Not one person said these guys were wrong to modify copyrighted material without permission. Now, I read I must prove they have permission. I don’t care if you don’t believe it. Live in your fantasy, which is fine. After the first pack they are making this much much better one. How big of a genius does one have to be to figure UBI knows about this? As for my “plugging” the new package, well, I am relaying what I see in the beta. Sorry if that happens to translate into the fun I am having. As for all the people that hate X-1 you might be surprised to find they do not notice. How many here know others personally? How many have ever spoken on the phone? I advise X-1 simply to improve the game in spite of my reservations of the last package I want this one to improve the overall SH3 and help broaden the base for SH4 so there will be a SH5. For those that misunderstand my intentions and do your childish name calling please don’t be too upset that I do not care. Well, maybe Avon Lady. I am a little afraid of her! :rotfl: Wulfmann |
