No help with either idea...but thanks!
|
Hi everyone
I got the same problem and searched a long time for a solution. At first, in the official documentation, it is said "Sub Command" Doesn't work on Windows NT Platform. As Windows XP is partly build on that type, "Sub Command" can't work on windows XP. But, I got a solution which seems to work well : 1°) completely uninstall Sub Command 2°) Use a good defragmenter, not the microsoft one (as 0&0 Defrag : http://www.oo-software.com/en/produc...rag/index.html) 3°) Perform a complete defragmentation of your volume. 4°) Reinstall Sub Command that way : - Don't use the automatic install - Open the CD-rom Window - Right Click on setup.exe - Choose the "Windows 2000" compatibility - Double Click the Setup to run it. 5°) When install is over, go on Sub Command directory, right click on Sub Command.exe, choose the "Windows 2000" compatibility. 6°) Perform a new defragmentation. 7°) Do the same if you want to install a patch. Using that way works on my windows XP SP2. Hope it will on your own system. Friendly PS : I did the same with the 1.08 patch, it works too. |
Hmmm....thanks for the feedback.
Even without a defrag, I can not imagine that it would make that much of a difference in load times. However, if it works, it is worth the effort. I will give it a shot over the weekend and let you know. Thanks again! |
Sure, you're right, the only defragmentation does not resolve the problem on its own.
At first you can try the solution without it. Perhaps it will do the job. I hope so. Fred |
What I find really interesting about your procedure is that you set the compatability mode for the installation program. I had always thought that compatability programs only effected (if they did anything at all) the actual executible for the program itself (and any shortcuts).

There is a parallell thread to this one running in the Sonalysts forum at:
http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/p...wtopic.php?t=4 Jamie, with Sonalysts has already made a few suggestions for me. You might want to chime in with your similar concerns there as well. Maybe as a group we can get this thing figured out :D |
