Same thing for a friend of mine over at BoB.
He's 6' 7", which is of course is waiver time for a nuke, even on an Ohio. His bunk for his first cruise was on the bottom between the first two rows missiles... first battle stations drill he's 4 hours into sleep, smacks his head on the bottom of the bunk above him and runs, bleeding from the forehead and nose in his t-shirt and boxers, bearfoot, back into the engineering area to report at his station. :rotfl: Needless to say, he was reminded that he has to show up to stations in uniform... :arrgh!: |
The Alaska tried their best to have rates with the same berthing. Our sonar berthing was between three and five. The deck crew had it better...their berthing was in the storeman's area...piece and quiet in relative terms.

I can also recall a collision drill when I was really junior where the CO ordered an air slug from the 3" launcher to simulate the impact. That really scared the bejesus out of me at the time. Unfortunately, I have never taken the time to get the sounds for DW so, I cannot make the comparison. But, now you know that torpedo room operations do infact have an impact throughout the ship.
