Well, atleast the carriers are more populated than a typical Finnish cities.

Getting back on topic (fastest diesel sub), how about USS Albacore (AGSS-569) at 33 knots submerged :know:
fastest submarine : russian alfa class SSN 45 knots
fastest SSK: as bill said albacore |
That's a point Bill...I didn't think of the Albacore, I keep considering her a nuke because of the streamline hull :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:
And I didn't consider her since she wasn't an 'SSK'.
no she was SS
No she was an AGSS; Auxiliary Research Submarine. ;)
knew she hadd SS some where
Maybe your thinking of USS Albcore SS-218, Gato Class?
no it was the sausage one :D AGSS albacore
did you know it was the russians that actualy introduced the high speed submarine and were the first to put tear dropped hulls to sea? the november class were the first ever submarines of a totaly new design they could reach 31 knots submeged where the counter part nautilus could reach only 22 and also the russian subs could dive to 310 meters where the nautilus on 200meters so it was russians who designed the first practicle high speed submarines despite the failures set backs and losses |
Well if you put a pair of powerful reactors on a brick unencumbered by unnecessary things like radiation shielding you can make it go 30+. Some early ballast tank troubles aside Nautilus was much safer and more covert.
nautilus was only superior in technology as most western subs are over russian ones the only real diffrence is hydrodynamic efficentcy and weapons diving depth and speed

That's one of the best summaries of the November I've ever heard! |
the november was no brick infact it was more advanced in hull form than the american boat of that time, nautilus was more the brick not the november
