:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You have got to be joking!

...from what I remember, Ivan - you stole the best boats and your future submarine development and designs from Germany (spoils of war?) otherwise Russia submarines would probably still be made out of wood and be steam driven! :rotfl:

Good link, Excalibur Bane. Thanks for your attempt to brighten the day.

Guys, relax. Kapitan is a British national. He only plays Russian on the weekends.

Camaero 11-26-05 03:25 PM

Good post! I hadn't seen that one!

Yes, that was my intention. I can't believe you guys have to bring your opinions and your crap in here. Stay on topic. Either discuss the video, or shut up. I'm really not interested in your opinion and I'm sick to death of people and their crap spreading like a plague into other threads.

Agreed.

Kapitan, when you reply "typical American", you may as well state "Let's argue pointelessly".

TLAM Strike 11-26-05 06:19 PM

Kapitan 11-26-05 06:38 PM

Nah, it's a training torpedo.

Nah, it's a training torpedo.

Whew...

Wim Libaers 11-27-05 04:45 PM

But it could still be risky. Even training torpedoes have propellant, and AFAIK are not designed to run dry. I'm not sure when it starts the engine, but if that happens while in the tube it might overheat something and blow op the engine.

As I understand it, it's powered by Otto fuel - but with a sea water activated battery - so it should be safe enough until it hits the water.

TLAM Strike 11-28-05 02:54 AM

Unless the battery cooks off ala the Scorpion...

Neptunus Rex 11-28-05 09:22 AM

MK46 - Battery powered.

Motor does not start until after the weapon clears the tube.

From the audio portion of the clip, it sounds like the impulse air supply was not lined up. :damn:

Russian subs! They look real nice in a periscope from 30 feet beneath their keel. ;)
