Not long ago we had a plane flying around Auckland city the pilot wanted to crash into the Sky tower. We had NO planes to shoot him down So the police just had to wait till he ran out of petrol .
I heard about that, wasn't that NZ election night?

There were reports here that they were worried he'd try and fly it at Helen Clarke, I remember thinking "that would be ironic, Clarke is killed on her re-eleection night because of her own stupid leadership choices".

Yes it was. He crash landed into the sea, survived. It was funny cos the news were monitoring him with cameras, he new he was safe as long as he stayed in the air.

Correct. So its down to 2 frigates? Im not surprised.

National party if were in govenment were willing to spend 3 billion every 4 yrs on the forces until we were up to standard with at least australia. We would of brought the 22 Aircraft the US offered us & The 8 helicopters There was discussions of buying the same subs Australia use.

Then Helen Clark becomes Prime minister and wipes all requests. Sells our airforce and focus only on New Zealand as being peace keeper forces. Not long ago we had a plane flying around Auckland city the pilot wanted to crash into the Sky tower. We had NO planes to shoot him down :rotfl: So the police just had to wait till he ran out of petrol :rotfl: :rotfl: . Turned out the pilot was just a nutter that ran amok after his girfriend left him. But what would happen if it was a terriost threat. We would be helpless if it was a 9/11 situation.

Just madness

Oh and we dont have the know how? Money talks

Thats criminally irrisponsible :o One should allways relay on yourself first in defense. You cant ever trust 100% for help. Do people except this or are there any protests?? Finland is a country of same size population and wealth and we can afford to keep exsample an Air Force of 63 F/A 18C/Ds and 50 BAE Hawk Mk51 A trainer/attack plane. An navy of 12 fast attack missile boats, 10 ASW/patrol ships(corvet size), 6 minelayers . And an Army of 356 MBT, 425 IFV, 1887 APC and 2000+ 105mm-155mm artillery pieces. And we think we have a small defence force. :-?

You're a bit dramatic there, 2005.

I can't be bothered going over it point by point right now, but by jove I shall! :arrgh!:

playing super power two as new zeland this is the game thats been written using the UN information, i found that;

6 frigates 4 destroyers 6 submarines 8 corvettes 30 patrol craft are ample for a navy for new zealand.

75 F15's 25 JSF attack aircraft 30 attack helos 20 transport helos and 16 ASW helos are enough

150 tanks 94,000 personnell 40 mobile launchers 50 air defence systems 80 artilary guns and 200 infantery viachles

thats a good sized force for that particular country and even though i had to increase the tax by 1.5% i managed to also imporve health and education over the period of 15 years

thats what i found shame about real life though :(
