Iceman 10-11-05 02:47 AM

Actually I go by two nicknames the other I'm sure you'll love too..."CD"...stands for Creeping Death...and Iceman...both come from my style of game play in which I am cold and to the point about getting the dirty job of destroying my opponents done. Anyone who has played online with me is always glad to have me on thier side. :lurk:

I think you're confused. Let me explain: Mary Kay.

Ahh, I see, Mary Kay Ash. You mean the one from the thread "The Ashes are here!"

Konovalov 10-11-05 03:57 AM

I borrowed my name from the Alfa class submarine that featured in the film The Hunt for Red October because I was addicted to Sub Command and loved driving my Soviet SSN.

Gizzmoe 10-11-05 04:11 AM

Well, where does "Gizzmoe" come from... I saw a post on 23th of March, knew the answer to his problem, and I gave me about a minute or two to find an alias that´s not too common and that was also still available on gmx.de (free email provider). I was quite drunk and I thought "Gizzmoe" sounds and looks good. Then I signed up. That´s the whole story... :)

jumpy 10-11-05 04:46 AM

jumpy - nickname I was called at school, kind of stuck.

Type941 10-11-05 05:03 AM

Type941 - it's a russian submarine, the typhoon, obviosly. seen the Red October long time ago, and to me it stands out as something that symbolized the whole nuke sub era of cold war. so when registering on a Submarine website, Typhoon was the first thing that came to mind. And since "typhoon' didn't seem available at the time of registration, I had to go for the Type941. .... Don't cofuse me with Akula, as someone once had an unfortunate mistake.

Sixpack 10-11-05 05:08 AM

Simple: 'Sixpack' was the dumbest nick I could think of at the time. It actually goes back to the year 2000. However, some of you folks really take the cake.

FYI: Some of my other marginally more clever nicks on the web -in racing sims fora- are:

Meanmachine
Victorious
Turbo lover

PS I havent played a sub sim in over 2 months now. I'm getting my kicks with 1000 HP instead with a minimum of electronic driver aids. Suddenly U-Booting seems ...kind of silly (...). Sorry, just a phase I'm going through, I guess. I figure I should load up DAS BOOT UNCUT again for inspiration. Catch y'all later

Kaleun 10-11-05 05:08 AM

Kaleun;

Because i'm the commander of a german u-boat(in SH2&3) - this was the shortened popular term/name for the rank kapitäntLeutnant.

Sounds familiar... RaceSimCentral or BHMS? hmm..

And what 1000hp is that?

I'm also in the racesim (rally sim to be precise) phase again, actually working on a full mod for Richard Burns Rally. What are you playing, rFactor?

:D Niech zyje Legia!

My christian name is Sebastian and Polak simply means Pole in polish.
I chose that name because I'm proud of being Polish ;)

joea 10-11-05 10:05 AM

Well for me it's really simple and boring. Comes from my real (middle, my first name is more "Greek" less "Canadian") name and the fact there were 4 guys named Joe in my high-school class so we were distinguished "Joe A., Joe N." etc. I kept it up on a lot of forums but could come up with a better name ...

Dowly 10-11-05 10:59 AM

I have two nicks I use.

Dowly: It just came to my head, years ago when I was playing DoD (Day of Defeat), so I just kept it.

And sometimes I use the nick Maggot86 when playing online games.
Maggot = I`m a huge fan of a band called Slipknot (the band calls their fans as maggots)
86 = well, I was born on 12th of January 1986

Oh, there´s one more I used ~4 years ago, when I first tried Counter-Strike (fricking stupid game!!!) and I sucked at it, so I named myself as UltimateToilet. :)

Actually I picked that name after about 15 seconds of thinking for name that sounded submarine like. :ping:

Don't try to intimidate me. My cap looks better than yours and that's all that counts on a sub!
:D

Good answer
