Very strange :/

I would download and run a utility that checks your RAM memory for errors.

I'm sure someone else here knows of a link.

Memtest86, or Windows memtest.
But nope, RAM is error free.

When you unistalled SH3 and before you reisntalled it, did you first delete all of SH3's residual folders and files in C:\Program Files\.....\SilentHunterIII\ and backup and delete folder \My Documents\SH3 ? :-?

If nothing else helps check your system for viruses and spyware (Adaware and Spybot).

What sound card do you have?

Gizzmoe 09-12-05 11:19 AM

Close all unnecessary background programs, like Firewall, Antivirus, etc., maybe that helps...

and you´ve already deleted the /MY Documents/SH3 folder? (make a backup before or you´ll delete your career files!)

Game did run fine on this machine some ago, this is right too?

(sorry for stupid questions, but i didn´t get that points)

for a Spyware/virus scan use this, even if you did a scan before with no results:
ftp://ftp.microworldsystems.com/download/tools/mwav.exe
maybe you´ll be suprised by the results.
Just execute, no setup needed. It´s the most advanced detection engine available.

It ran fine yes.

Have deletded that folder too.
Yes

give that a try:

go to startmenu, click on run, type "cmd"
then type (in the just popped up window) chkdsk

watch for errors in the output.
If there are any errors (bad sectors), backup your important data.
Then type chkdsk /F

answer the question about a check next startup with yes.

ps. i just fired up the game your oceanfloor mod...

and runs fine together with a landscape mod (Terrain Upgrade v.2.1) i use, although 2 files were overwritten.

Hope you can fix your computer problem soon!
(did you do the scan with mwav?)

All didn't work.

However I suddenly got the bright light that I could connect my notebook to my monitor and keyboard.

And voilla.

As I don't play SH-3 for just half an hour but rather a whole afternoon that works. :)

I know that some people are skittish about messing w/ the registry.

in the windows registry you can do it one of two ways:

manually taking the keys out in HKEY_CURRENT_USERS and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. (NOT ADVISABLE(If you are not comfortable going in and ripping the keys out)and if you dont know what keys to look for).

The other method is to go to Edit/Find and type in 'Silent Hunter 3' and let the computer find them for you.

PM me if you need more info.
and no i am not leading anyone down a dark path. :)

That's something I haven't tried yet.
