But I agree, if someone yells at me, I have unpleasant flashbacks.

Almost the same here, only different here it was my parents who on daily basis yelled at each other...couple of years later they got divorced.

So when someone yell at me or at some others I get unpleasant flashbacks

Parents need to understand the effect that can have on their kids.

I am just glad that, unlike some other parents, I was able to break the cycle and not continue like my parents did

I had a few times Site Supervisors yelled at me.
Those went REAL BAD for them! Case in point:

I was at a Home Depot getting materials when a Super called me on the phone.
He started yelling at me and cussing me out for reporting him to his Boss.
I told him to stay right at the site I'd be there in 15 minutes then hung up.
I left the materials without checking out, got in the Van and headed back.
I called my Boss and told him what was going on and told him I was going to beat that Guy to near death! I then hung up and shut off my phone!

I arrived at the Site, kicked the door open, and walked in with my Estwing hammer in hand with the full intent of caving in his skull!
My Boss had warned him I was coming and the arse hole ran as soon as he saw me walk in!

The next day HIS BOSS flew from Ohio to Florida to resolve the issue.
The results were he lost his job and to this day his Boss just likes the heck out of me!

That Company has told EVERY Project Manager and Supervisor yelling at me is NOT ACCEPTABLE and will have a bad out come one way or the other!

I still do a lot of work all over the USA for them and am on the preferred list for demolition projects.
Most recent jobs coming up are in Kokomo, Indiana and Reno, Nevada.
:D

If an employee gets me to the point I feel I need to yell at him?
I end up with one less employee.

Well getting irritated at being yelled at is one thing, but to me setting out on a declared intent to murder someone with a freaking hammer implies a seriously dangerous lack of self control. I'd have fired you on the spot for even making such a threat about a coworker and would have reported the incident to the law.

Maybe you're just talking crap but God forbid you actually carried it out. I would not want to have to explain to a grieving family member why I didn't say anything when there was a still chance to stop you.

If this story is true, you are lucky that criminal charges were not placed on you

life on a spinning oft-demolitioned mudball

/\ hmmm.....:hmmm: As a former Fed guard/bailiff, with many schizophrenic crazy people in SS offices, Sikhs with religious kirpans, old Chinese ladies with .45's in their purse(I'm on the baggage x-ray) Fed employees not on their happy pills freakin-out in the lobby; and in-house USPS personnel "goin' postal"; one bomb removal from S.F. Immigration and 3 building bomb shutdowns on my resume; when I heard old Jeff was coming to Sacramento a few years back to do mall demolition, I was immediately dispatched to make sure all was copacetic, his reputation having preceeded him...and I managed to survive the close (handshake) encounter...reasonably intact!:O: Jeff is really a god fearing, law abiding man of peace and occasional harmony!! Here is his favorite hymn:arrgh!: The good looking front-row gal is my daughter-lead Soprano of the National Champion NHS Choir https://youtu.be/Q-VVgF2c6eg

Glad to see people still can not read a post without jumping to conclusions!
:har:
Where did I stated I was going to murder someone?

And exactly what charges could be filed against me?
Walking into a job site with a hammer?
:har::har::har:

That thought was never conveyed nor spoken to anyone.
So no crime committed.

Kicking in a door with a hammer in hand can be attributed as intent, especially after your telephone conversation with your boss. You need to develop and practice effective critical thinking skills (for your own good as well as the good of others). That or you need to post less about wishful fantasies of a violent nature on a forum full of strangers. Just some friendly advice. :):shucks:

My therapy instructor once said I was auto-aggressive. I don't know what he meant by that, but I gave him one to be on the safe side. :D

:O:
Old psychologist joke.

You're lucky he didn't put a bullet into you. Come at me with a hammer like that and I certainly would have.

Well. I'm a Reverend now for 8 years and those days are long passed.
In fact I'm hiring a Guy that broke into my home 17 years ago an assaulted my Step Son.

I figure he did his time in the Joint so why hold a grudge.

Sounds like you have mastered yourself then. That's all anyone can ask of anyone.

Jeff-Groves 09-29-21 04:35 PM

I wouldn't say I've Mastered Myself.
I think over the years I've found better ways to express myself and deflect aggression from others.
Most people that resort to yelling expect yelling as a response.
Throws them completely off balance when you come back with a calm voice and logic to answer them.
