If I was the monolith I too had left the scene. Insta and FB minions, esoteric muddlers, esoteric muddler's dogs (you get the idea). In two weeks time a souvenir shop, a soda vending machine, and public restrooms would have been set up. Nah, time to go.

In this case...more a matter of "unleashing the McKrakon !":arrgh!:EDIT: I just read an article by an outdoor photographer who saw the monolith disassembled & removed and conversed briefly with the removal team who apparently did so to prevent tourist related ecological damage to an otherwise pristine site. Way too many vehicles and curious people were invading the site.
