glad you got it to work you don't need TWoS Campaign Advance Verifier_Testing' mod enable so you can disable that can you take a pic and post the horrible fish eye lense effect that your getting, you might try Boogie's Refit for TWOS v3.0 Complete and reshade see if that helps

Well, for now, I'm playing at 1920x1080 so there is no stretching but black bars on the sides. Quick question, is there any way to manually aim the deck gun in TWoS or has that been removed? It was fun to take control of the gun and finish off ships sometimes.

les green01 11-11-20 10:16 AM

you can still do the deckgun yourself

rfxcasey 11-11-20 11:46 AM

Sorry to bother you again, while I can 'man' the deck gun I can't seem to use any sights on it, you just stand off to the side and move it around in a very clunky intuitive way. Is there some hotkey to use the gunsight?

you'r not bothering anyone at the top left corner of the screen you should see a thing that looks like sights when you mouse over it will say zoom in

Aw man, how did I miss that. Icons are kinda small on this monitor and it was hiding behind my framerate counter. Thanks, works great, big relief, I was scared it'd been removed completely. Hey one more quick question about the TWoS, how do these external torpedo reserves work? I try to drag them to my empty torpedo slots but they don't wanna seem to transfer. I assume you need to be surfaced but can't get them to load, or at least if they do, they're taking forever, I don't see any progress.

you got to talk to the weapons officer in the bow torpedo room or press f11 on surface calm seas and try to do it when the enemy is not around

Ah yes, thanks again. I had to spend a promotion point on him first as the dialog option was 'greyed' out. Excellent, I've come a long way with this sim in only about 2 days, went from not working at all to being great already. Now if I can just get this funky FOV fisheye gone I'll be in hog heaven.:yeah:

And for anyone interested, I think I tracked down why the sim wouldn't start, at least in part. Installing the TWoS after replacing the download version SH5.exe with the DVD version SH5.exe was definitely the first step, which allowed the TWoS mod to install properly to start with. Still though, even with that, attempting to start the sim through the SH5 desktop icon, resulted in UConnect launching and just continually showing the loader with the progress spinner. After closing that there were still UConnect processes 'ubisoft connect launcher (32 bit)' and 'ubisoft connect webcore (32bit)' running in the background which would prevent any starting of the game from that point on. I had to go into the task manager and shut those processed down manually, then launch UConnect and then launch the game through UConnect. Doing that, the game launches and works properly. I also deactivated all JSGME mods, which prevented some crashing I was experiencing. I think you'd be safe to use the aspect ratio mod but at least one of the other mods I had active must have cause instability issues. Now that I've had the game running rock stable for a day or so I'll see if I can reactivate a few JSGME mods and see what I can get away with. Maybe this will help someone.

On a side note, it was suggested to launch the game through TWoS Kommander and while TWoS Kommander starts, I cannot launch the game through it and it does not appear to work correctly. I can see my saves in it, and I can select them, but hitting the launch button does nothing and some data appears to be missing. For instance the box above the launch button has nothing in it and the data for some of the dialog boxes seems like it's missing. I don't really need it anyways, but it'd be nice to figure out what's going on with it.

Instructions.
Cut and paste the default SH5.exe to a convenient place.
Download the zip file into your SH5 game folder.
Unzip the file and use the Extract Tab.
Cut and paste the zip file to a convenient place, this is now your backup.
Check that the new SH5.exe is set to run as an administrator. hope this helps you

thanks bigtime.. Crazy what i had to do to get both sh4 and sh5 finally working again off steam sales. Have all the boxed copies but i though digital would be the easy path.. The sh5 file finally fixed by games starts/updates (after discovering uplay went to uconnect)
