I've never had any issues with Steam. Of course I don't buy old games from Steam either. If it's old and not on Abandonware to where I can legally download it, then I know someone is trying to rip me off.
Having said that, I don't trust Steam as far as I can throw them. I have all my purchased games triple backed up off my PC. There will be a day Steam stop existing (to pretend otherwise is foolhardy) and I won't be left with the short stick. In fact, pretty sure Home World is abandonware, I have one of them because of that. Edit: Yep, it is, and so is two. https://www.myabandonware.com/game/homeworld-3zy Edit2: Oh GoGs greedy ass has it claimed. Goddamn I hate GoG. They are the world's worst at claiming and reselling Abandonware, which is why the rightfully get pirated so hard. Glad I grabbed it before they did this, ****ing ****s! |

Actually at the beginning of their career a couple dozen B-17s is realistic and historically accurate. |

You gotta remember that was almost 20 years ago. All I know is it was so much grander the game when you modded it out like that. The skies full of planes fighting and protecting. Watching bombers spiraling into a death dive. "I love it. God help me I do love it so!" George C. Scott as Patton ...LOL |

I can't play the remastered because it required a OpenGL 3.3. driver which Intel does not support for the graphics card my laptop has. |

Out of curiosity might I ask what video card your Laptop has? |

Otherwise this whole issue would be mute. Funny how a desktop that I built years ago could run the older game but a newer laptop can't. Hence I tried to start up the old desktop but while the power came on I couldn't get anything to come on the monitor I was using with either HDMI or the attached vga cable. |

Although at one point Steam did allow you to opt out of updates, but I haven't seen that choice in a long time. :salute: |
I just thought about this... one of the threads here I mentioned that I had a game that wouldn't run in XP because version of OpenGL that was required was too old for the new video card.
Some one posted a link to a program that can grab OpenGL calls and redirect, But I forget what thread it is in. And exactly how it works... :hmmm: I'll do a search and see if I can find it. Might get you working on the laptop. Barracuda |

A work around would be great. |

However... I'm not sure if the tool could redirect newer > older...:hmmm: Which is why I was trying to find the thread. I'll have to search again, I didn't find it last time... Barracuda |
