No sir, check your task manager to see futile background programs running, try to play offline when not launching Steam interface, try to mod a somewhat complex game on Steam, or quickly install your game on your laptop because you go on travel ... I'll comment no further the Steam mess because I'm a polite man.
Instead on GOG you deal with your game. That's what you paid for, and it's also a quality difference. The games on GOG work.

Sorry to prove you wrong, but this is a cop of the folder moved onto my media server (no steam installed on it ! - in only Win10 and 1 program Pulseway Manager).
The game works perfect fine - as already stated by Devs the versions between the 2 are exactly the same = NO DRM

I'm glad that this is not the case with Cold Waters (and not with Atlantic Fleet probably) and that you can remotly play the game.
