This isn't going to be a stunning masterpiece to start, its using the vanilla textures and mesh for the Sen Toku, which is pretty ugly looking. I ain't a 3d modeller, so it probably won't improve visually, but with time and effort I could improve its damage model, and gameplayability. I can take screen shot of it, but its literally a Sen Toku with the german 37mm double AA guns, a US 4 inch cannon, and a double 20mm mount I added. |
Is there a way to see a debug/crash log of the game? That would help by a ridiculous amount.
The mod is SO close to finished, but something, somewhere, is causing crashes, and I am not knowledgable on what it is and how to fix it. I can get to the 'briefing room', but spawning in causes a crash. Going to try disabling interiors. |
All right, unit crew is completed I believe, as are all compartments and 'equipment'. (I need to ensure all parts are attached though...)
Unit loads into the game, but NOT as a player controlled submarine. Will need to fix that...But I don't know how. Any help would be very very much appreciated. |
About all I can suggest to do is to look at the Fleet Boats' files in Data / Roster / Country (American) / Submarine and in the Data / Submarine / Boat . Also the Data / Library folder, as well as Data / Library / USSubParts folders, for clues on how to "copy" things from stock. Pick one particular boat, like the Gato, and look at all the files associated with it, especially the control part, where it's not an AI sub. There might also be an AI_FleetBoat in there to compare to the Gato and Sen Toku.

I'm having issues getting the deck gun and AA crew to appear on the crew screen now! GRAH! |
Still having issues regarding getting the AA and deck gun crew slots to be visible in the briefing room!
GRAH! The SenToku mesh lacks a 'bolt on' bridge, it comes inbuilt with one (unless I edited the model), and this MIGHT be causing the issue, but ships like the Balo...Baleo? BALAO class has AA stuff on the ship itself in the upc. |
there is a tutorial out there as to how to clone a sub, there is even a template you can dl if you want.
just take the model from the Sen Toku, you can copy/pate nodes with s3d, and paste it into the template, rename all etc.. and you should have a SenToku though she has no tubes, the tower being part of the sub is no big deal you can put the stuff from the tower upc into the subs good luck with your endeavour !! remember that she is big and slow to dive, and slow to move underwater.. I can't find the older info on this, which has more details... but:
sub templates http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...23#post2463823 cloning ships discussion http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...539#post473539 I am already half-drowned by the time I read just a little portion of this: http://s3d.skwas.com/manual/remap/ might be getting off into the weeds: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...33#post2064633 but I cannot find the two that keltos01 is referring to... |

And 8 torpedo tubes with 20 in storage? Amazing. This is the thing, I have set all 8 tubes to 8 nodes I placed on the front, as I can't add models for it to reference to. It seems like you can reference nodes in that area as its a weapon slot. If you are up to it, could you please see through my UPC file and see if you spot anything wrong? You seem to be the experienced modder here. I can upload it at your wish. |
Postpone my previous statement.
I am now going to redo EVERY box hitbox in the model, following the layout of a usual submarine. Sen Toku does not have a read torpedo room, but logically each room would have more HP due to the larger and more redundant hull. Technically the crew quarters was **** on this submarine, being japanese in design, but lets just say the USN will do a good refit on it. ;P |
I'm sorry but I have no time for that. We have a s'en toku already in the jungen b mod mod Ding nearly all relevant Japanese submarine classes.
Good luck Ith your endeavour K |
