TUNNGLE! That's it! Now I remember it. That's what we used. I forgot it but you reminded me! Thank you. I should be up and running tomorrow and I will buy it from amazon now.

One of maybe a few more questions. Where should I install the game to? Some say don't use the default directory if you want to use mods or it will screw up the game and jsgme mod enabler. Where should I install SH4 and the mod enabler too?

Anywhere outside of the usual Program Files folder.

Whilst I'm here, you might want to also consider SH3, fantastic game, amazing mods.

can you give me a good path example?

Herr-Berbunch 01-28-17 06:52 PM

C:\Games\SH4

Doesn't have to be on the root drive (same as OS), it could be on a secondary hard drive in which case just change the C: for whatever the relevant letter would be.

so for example,

This PC > Desktop > Silent Hunter- Wolves Of The Pacific - Gold Edition (Download)

thats a ok path?

That's the path it's giving me stock from amazon.

Herr-Berbunch 01-28-17 07:01 PM

No, I wouldn't actually install a program to the desktop, only use it as a temporary holding location.

When you start the install it should (I say should, I installed SH4 several years ago and removed it soon after so I can't remember) ask for a location to install, just create a new folder on C: and call it whatever you want.

Herr-Berbunch 01-28-17 07:03 PM

Oh, and make sure it is a designated drive, not under 'This PC'.

Just to clarify,

I have the steam version of SH4, I didn't have to go through any extra steps to get mods working, I literally did exactly the same method as I did for my DVD version of SH3 (Three).

However, you have to get the "U-boat" add-on to patch it to V1.5.
Otherwise it is V1.3, the V1.4 patch just will not "take" on the Steam version.

Of course, this may be the "extra steps" Delanski mentioned.

I don't really like Steam, in fact I dislike all "on-line activation" garbage, however...
If I must use an online activation "service", at least I can go off-line (for a year, when I got Fallout: New Vegas!) and not need to "check-in" every time I start the game.

I bought the amazon gold one. It sent me a activation code but the ubisoft registry is down. So I guess I can't do anything to register my game. But so far so good I guess. It hasn't asked me for a code for anything yet.
