Skybird, it isn't even what you say in general, it is how you say it.

People who do that, frankly, are absolutely naive, stupid - or really just don't know better, which isn't surprising.

Quite.

Compare and contrast the following:

1) Writing a detailed blow by blow response taking around half an hour of your time every time the same point is raised or

2) Finding a humorous gif and copying and pasting it, taking around five minutes maximum.

Naive, as in dismissing any evidence for dangers.
Not knowing better, as in just not into that kind of stuff.

Was what I said so bad?
Where you reading Mein Kampf again!? :haha:

I HAVE been ridiculed before whenever I said something critical about the current modern times trend to uncritically embrace new technology. Have stopped counting some years ago how often I was told I should "just unplug the wire" and "live in a cave".

I knew it would trigger the same autonomous reflex once again when posting that link.

Its just that I do not care anymore.

The article I linked, is a good one, it brings up some valid and not immediately obvious consideration that many people never got aware of until today. Or even actually refuse to consider, due to comfortability or laziness or avoidance behavior.

Thats what it is about, and your mockery does not really reach me. I am not even angry about such things anymore - it just does not reach me anymore. Take and weigh what the author of that article has to say, or move on. The mess described there will not only get you anyway - it already does right now, in these past years while you are ignoring it. Its just that you are not aware.

What the author has to say there, what he tries to make you aware of, stands for itself in argument and observation. Whether you mock me for just delivering the message or not, is not relevant. Not for me, and not for the arguments.

See, that's the problem in your delivery. We are all "uncritical" before you tell us how it is. We dont need a preacher.

Told you guys, it's Das Kapital now...when the liberals come to take away my freedoms I need to at least know the language. :O:

The thing is, there's a give and take relationship with modern technology, you get convenience and interconnectivity but you lose privacy and some security. For some people this is not a problem and it will not negatively effect them in their entire lives, for others it's the end of the world. I think that with every change in technology there will always be those who perceive the negative aspects of it as outweighing the positive ones.
Ultimately though time marches on and those people who you consider stupid and naive will outnumber and outlive you, and will probably consider their relative descendancy to be stupid and naive for using the technology that they do, perhaps full spectrum bio-neural connections which take you to another plane of existence mentally but come with some physical and psychological negative side-effects.

Oh, and if you guys have Netflix, or...other means... :arrgh!:
You should really check out the new series of 'Black Mirror', I have a feeling that it'll be something that you'll enjoy and be terrified at in equal measures. Charlie Brooker and his team really do write some pointed material.

On a cyber-security note, a massive DDoS attack seems to be screwing up the US East Coast internet...pretty impressive stuff, wonder who's doing it?
