But it should.
AI_Sonar is Sonar, not Hydrophone.
Type123A is Sonar, not Hydrophone.

You know the U505 Mission. There it is easy to test.
When the Mission starts, do nothing but hold the deep. Normaly you get not detected. Let the Destroyer go and you will win.

Make a Mod. Set MaxHeight to 0 on QCIA. (This is what the Evarts und Buckley use in the mission 1944.) You get more or less immediatly detected and you loose.

I launched U-505 mission :

First, i didn't do anything, the 3 destroyers passed near me without knowing i was there. Then, i went full speed ahead and the destroyer that was on my right (Buckley) detected me with her hydrophone. So, i get back to slow speed. I let the destroyer go on me. My indicator is red only when she is only 300 meters from me. She dropped depth charges but i got only minor damages to the flak. Then, i took a course to have my stern right towards her, and she didn't find me again. She launched 2 more times depth charges (far from me), and then went back to the escort of Casablanca carrier. The 4 other destroyers (Evarts class) didn't attack me ... EASY !!! :) :-?

Next time, i will try with MaxHeight to 0 on QCIA.

My message on Mission U505 useing UC1A was wrong.

As one can clearly see inGame, the Evart use Hedgehoc. This means it may not use the Version-Date as shown in Missioneditor, or the Configuration-Date as seen in the Mission itself by an Editor like Notepad.

So when set MaxHeight to 0 on all Hydro and Sonar should have the same negative effect, as the positive effect of set MinHeight to 1 on Radar and Lookout to let the user snorkeling a bit without detection.
I dont know wich Point the Sim uses to calculate the subs-position, but MaxHeight to 0 should increase the Subs-Detection-surface on Periscopedepth by 10m and the let the Hydro-Sonar-beam go upto the Waterline and not break it 10m below.

Greetings.

In case of using S3D with AI_Sensors and have reversed Sonar/Hydrophone or vice versa may be like this:

In data\Library\AI_Sensors.dat :
Node - AI_Sonar
Type=Hydrophone

compare your installed S3D obj_Sensor.cs with this:
