To be honest my local fish shop regular size chips is a big portion and too much for me with fish. Just about ok with a a couple of sausages. Can not fault them always had a good nosh up from there. Friendly Chinese and they won an award and always get a hygiene rating 5 very good.

Yeah, I know a good cheap source for getting those hygiene certificates printed :)

Around here in NEW England a good fish and chips platter goes for around $10 to $15.

Sure.
But I live 170km north of the coastline, although I know a few people in the charter business.
I'm the person to contact if you want to trek up a mountain.

The Karavanke range of the Alps, where I live, is tourist friendly. 2060m or 2260m peaks can be reached and descended in one day with an overpriced lunch at one of the huts.

It looks like perhaps $10 or so here in the USA and 6 pounds or so in the UK which is up from 3.50 a pound what it was in the UK four years ago by the way.

I think this will be the real economic barometer of the future of the UK which seems to be still alive after last week.

We've always called it 'The Chippy' but it's odd, now I think about it, that there's no slang expression for the fish & chips meal itself.

You can buy other things there to have with your chips, such as fish cakes... minced up fish and mashed potato formed into patties with a bit of seasoning and covered in breadcrumb.

You can also always get sausages if you prefer, and we call these "lips and arse".
