That SH3 Detection icon was what gave the 1628: Failed to complete installation message when I tried to do the reinstall.

You'll get the itch to play again. ;) After being away from SH3 3 or 4 years I got the itch after messing with SH5 and having campaign problems with it. But now it's problems getting SH3 to run as it should.

Real strange it tells you its failed and a search tells you SH3 is not on the PC yet it is and you can play it! Welcome to the Twilight Zone. :haha:

I'm not into gaming anymore, rather read a good book. :DL

No I couldn't play it. That's when I had to look and found SH3 Detection in Programs in the Start Menu. Then deleted it. Only then could I do a reinstall of SH3.

I had ago installing again today and may have cracked this 1628 problem, when you reach the end of install before the check your system specs I had a look at my apps screen four new apps of SH3 and one was listed as Detection tool so I pressed this on the system specs came up twice but here is the thing, after checking the SH3 Icon remain on the Desktop. Clicked it on the game ran ok so I did a PC system search and this time around SH3 was found, passing this info on to my mate as he too has Win8.1. No idea if I have cracked this problem outright but it does seem something went right and no 1628 failed install message.

Will post here later today on my mates problem if he stills has it or not.

I hope that's the fix. Good luck to your buddy too. Keep us posted. :salute:

Got some feed back from my mate six patrols and no Turm 2 issue, I suggested he can go ahead with the cosmetic mods and try SH3 Commander and see how it goes for another six patrols. It could be possible the SH3 Cleaner may have sorted his problem lets hope so. If the next six patrols go well I suggested start using the other mods one at a time and if all is back to normal then clearly the Type XXI 1939 mod caused the error and SH3 Cleaner cleaned the error off. I shall post another update next weekend and with luck that should be the last time.

No, mate.

SH3 Cleaner only eleminates installation errors caused by the InstallShield Wizard.
Gameplay issues are not affected.

Does that mean it can be used with SH3 installed...... and modded too?

Yup, that's the meaning of the matter.

Read here.

Last update all seems to be well again for my mate, the SH3 Cleaner helped to sort the install path issue as for the other one no idea, but for now no Type 2 Turm appearing on the Type VII U-Boat.

BTW: Mate passes his thanks on too all those who helped. :salute:

Well I can get back to reading and he can get back to SH3. :)
