One of the most amazing feats is how is all the preparation and staging needed was done, yet it remained secret until the day it happened.

I recently finished a book consisting of short recollections from members of a Bomb Group in England. Some of them mentioned how their route to targets were somewhat roundabout, with a large No-Go zone over the southern coast of England.

I have always been fascinated by the logistics after the landing. How they set up the harbour and moved all those supplies. Wow!!

The C-47 that led the main flight of paratroops on D-Day has been found intact.

Whether you believe it was friendly fire (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) or a German E-boat attack, let's not forget the soldiers who died on 27 April 1944 in a training exercise off the Dorset Coast as part of Exercise Tiger.
