You can use "shift+F2" to get a free view around the interior.
It works on stock sh3, and is not advised to use to go outside the boat, or into spaces that may not be rendered.
I'm not sure if any of the interiors mods allow the use of 'free-view, shift+F2' camera control, but if they do, then, enjoy!
Trivia, mostly, but it's one more function that is not mentioned in the manual.

Just 2 days ago i installed Flakmonkeys newinterior mod, and that gives you a dynamic free camera with shift+E which is soo nice!

Another option is the onboard free cam. If you're using a mod that lets you "walk" around the bridge or down to the deck, it's very simple to just walk right off the boat. You will be very close but still outside. :sunny:
