Also, I have had hi-speed collisions with my conning tower and escorts and it will rip the belly out of them and sink them. Had it happen about a week ago.

In fact, it ended my last career. Sank the escort, destroyed every aspect of the conning tower. Could not even put people on the bridge.

Air support came in and sank us.

I finally nailed one about a month ago, head-on at flank speed. It did sink her. No damage to me.

Good tip! Did you get credit for the sinking?

When I rammed the sailboat I heard the sound effect of sinking a ship, but there was no kill marker on the map afterwards. However, I can go back into my game and double check tonnage before and after ramming.

EDIT: After another ramming of a sailboat, I can confirm that you do not receive credit for the destruction of the ship.

I don't remember. I'm pretty sure I got the "She's going down!" message, so I'm betting I did.

It's not an ice-breaker, for crying out loud. :nope:

Well, I was going to add ramming to my arsenal, but if I don't get any credit for it then what's the point?

Fun? :D

Well, I've always kind of viewed sailboats as non-combatants. I felt bad for the fishermen too, until they started shooting at me.

While I applaud your creativity, it makes me curious....

Do you guys have the Flak guns removed before sailing? I mean, even small boats are easier to hit than planes.:haha:

No, I saw the sailboat mid-patrol and wondered what would happen when I rammed it. I also saved the game beforehand and again wanted to find out when you hit one with a torpedo. All in the name of fun.

Usually I pass them close aside and call the crew to deck for our fireboat drill.

:D
