Hi Jimbuna ! I would like to know if you have the same problem as me (sorry, I can't watch your video...) : are the guns well placed or not ? Thanks.

Jimbuna 05-26-14 04:32 AM

The guns are well placed but I believe they can transverse a little when aimed at a target.

Fahnenbohn 05-26-14 06:22 AM

So, I don't understand at all why I have this problem and not others !! :shifty:

Fahnenbohn, the guns of NFD have a z-axis rotation of abut 10°, which is a bit in conflict with the fire arc as detailed in the NFD.sim.

So, try opening the NFD.dat in the S3D and set the z-xis rotation of the barrels to 0°. Now, the guns should be in place AND fire.

Hello !

Thank you for trying to help me, the frog ! :salute:

Well, I've done as you told me. But unfortunately, there are no improvements. The guns are still misplaced as you can see on the picture below...

Hi all !!

During this summer, I've worked a lot on my problems with the misplaced guns on the flying dutchman. Finally, after many nighters, I've managed to solve my primary problem, and more, I've added as many guns that has a true 74' ship ! :smug: For the historical background, this type of ship was created by the french engineers around the 1740s. At the time, it was a huge technical advance, insomuch that the english royal navy was absolutely outdated !

So, the ship you have before you should not be called "Flying Dutchman", but rather "L'Invincible", "Le Terrible" or "L'Intrépide"... :arrgh!:

To achieve this result, I took my first idea :
I have created 3 guns' models in separate files (Guns-Dutch.dat and Guns-Dutch.sim) placed in the Library. In NFD.dat, I've replaced the nodes "Flying_Dutchman_can01" with "cfg#M01_NFD" nodes. And in NFD.eqp, I've specified all the nods which have to be connected to the new Guns-Dutch.dat file ! The result is simply amazing !! Have you ever seen 37 guns shooting at the same time ? ....

An original plan :

"L'Invincible" along with my Nautilus :

L'invincible is firing against a battleship :

I've reached my challenge ! Cheers, my friends ! :woot: :()1:
:salute:

FD is indeed an easter egg and has been shown in details in here in great depth so a search is needed.

I see this vessel every time I patrol the Luzon Straits

Nah! everyone at :subsim: is DE-facto-a history jock(of lost causes?) and a lot of newbys even say so on their initial greeting; Several have advanced multiple degrees and do it for a living. My whole point in the History thread is to provide a ripple point for events in history, however trite, that put each us where we are today. For example my dad flew B-29's in the Pacific WWII with a navigation device Amelia Earhart wished she'd had...and then he met my mom...Voila! That's what makes it fun- we are all our own little DNA comets passing through time and space-Edgar Cayce notwithstanding:hmmm: Sailor Steve drove one of the cars mentioned in the thread and Armistead is a Son of the Confederacy (another lost cause) And were all at :subsim: because of the CSS Hunley! and a few CSS Davids:haha: "The winners write history"...the losers acquire perspective!:03:
