One problem being....if you find yourself falling in love, you forget or ignore every pearl of wisdom you previously learned.

I've got 2 step kids...

5 nope, because it was "our kids come first"
4 no
3 no
2 no
1 not by a long shot.

Maybe you're just doing it wrong?

Good post.
This is exactly why I'm single, and intend to remain so.
In one instance, I experienced all the 5 points presented.
Never.Again.

For a long time I thought it was my fault it all failed. Now I see I really tried hard, and hadn't but good intentions.

Thank you for sharing this. I mean it.

What GR has described I have seen all to often with my own family members. Both male and female.

Been there, done that, 2 too many times (dated 2 single moms). I was fortunate enough to miss #3 both times.

The moms are okay, mine were they gave good, uh well you know after the kids went to bed that is.

It's the kids that cause the problems they will lie, cheat and say anything to get a present or a video game or a trip to Disneyland or a happy meal.

It's the darn kids I'm telling you :yep:

My wife had a daughter to her first husband, we produced twin girls when we got together and have never had any of the problems listed above.

It has been 28 years now, the eldest is married and the twins are at uni.

Just saying.. :arrgh!:

Cheers

yep every situation is different of course. Which is why it is entitled "5 things i wish I knew before dating a single mom" and not "5 things every man should know before dating a single mom"

Of course as i posted earlier, im really only dealing with situation number 3 at the moment. This article is more of a composite of the experiences of myself and men i have known of.

The bottom line is, it is not always rainbows and gumdrops when a person tries to blend into an existing family:up:

If you are only dating GR, it's easy enough to rectify the situation before it becomes one.:03::O:

heheh I was just feeling a li'l smug :arrgh!:

I know a few guys who have had problems in this area. I was lucky and got hitched to an old-fashioned Gal whos daughter I knew from aged four and who I helped nurture and get across to her the importance of learning and even handedness and who I am very, very proud to say is doing very well indeed.

She is my Eldest daughter and is helping us educate the twins, teaching the lessons my wife and I taught her.

I iz Chuffed, I iz :woot:

We sound like a Cult

Cheers
