Wow! So the German Military has actually bought Neanderthals back from extinction!? I know that you're not joking, because The Media told me that Germans don't have a sense of humour. And The Media is our God. Praise The Media.

^You nail it, the Germans' sense of humor is well known :D

Is this whole Neanderthals speaking like humans theory a possible explanation for the Kardashians, Miley Cysrus, Kanye West, et al?...

<O>

I would think that a Neanderthal would sound more like James Earl Jones than Kanye-my poop don't stink-West.:hmmm:

Austria is Germany with a sense of humor.

An Austrian told me that once.

If I had been joking there would have been a banana peel in my post. Steve told me that there is no humour (had to look that word up and still don't understand it's meaning...) without banana peels.:huh:

But we did not have to bring them back, they were actually never gone it seems.:doh:

Don't find what amusing?

My grandmother was German, you know. Germans also do have a sense of humor. I happen to have a book in my library called The Complete Compendium of German Humor.

I haven't been able to make much sense of it. All the pages are blank.

My second ex was of German descent (her mother and father came to the US after WW2). I long ago heard that line about Austrians being Germans with a sense of humor and repeated it to her and her mother...

Confirmed: Germans do not have a sense of humor...

...and having 2 German women mad at you at the same time is likewise unamusing...

My friend Rocky and his wife once told me a story...

Rocky and Cathy were having dinner with his parents - his dad a career army and air force sergeant with a lot of good stories to tell, and his mom a girl dad had met in Germany after the war - when for some reason the subject of honey came up. It seems mom kept her own honey, and made the mistake of saying "Norman loves my honey pot." Cathy lost it first, then Rocky, and finally his dad. Mom didn't make matters better by asking, in all seriousness, "Norm, don't you like my honey pot?" Rocky and Cathy both said they might have thought she was faking it, secretly in on the joke, but the more they laughed the more serious and angry mom got.

On the other hand...

I once told the "Compendium" joke to my friend Jacques, whose dad was from Belgium. When I said "Germans have no sense of humor" Jacques replied "Of course Germans have a sense of humor! The elected Hitler dictator, didn't they?"

Sorry to bring Godwin into it, but those were his actual words and I found them funny at the time.
