I prefer Burger King over McD's. There is a good BK about a mile away. Wendy's is pretty good, too. I seldom eat fast food anymore. I like it ok, but will usually get chinese, when I feel like something special. Quote:

I wonder if Warren Buffet who recently purchased a very sizable share of Heinz will now stop eating at the McDonalds where he lives.(no joke he really does eat at the McDonalds near his house by his own admission).
Of interest Burger King is one of the corporations that got a waiver for the AAC(Obama Care) McDonalds did not apply for one.I'd say that McDonalds treats it employees slightly better if they are willing to take on the insurance benefits(for full time workers of course). |

Steak and Shake is fast food that is what your typical burger joint used to be like pre modern style fast food anyway Stake and Shake is fast food.
The best fat food burger made by a national chain is by far 5 Guys. Basic rule of thumb is if it takes you less than an hour to come in the door sit have your meal and go it is fast food and most places even Stake and shake you can come in and be done in 30 minutes.Honestly I consider just about any major chain to be fast food.Even sit down joints like Red Lobster,Olive Garden everything there is pre made they just take it out of a walk in cooler and heat it up some times literately in a microwave. I see the inside of industrial kitchens at least four or fives times a week to work on their coolers and freezers.there is a vast difference between a chain restaurant and a real restaurant that has actual trained chiefs. all that being said I have seen chain restaurant kitchens that are gross I have seen mom and pop joints that are gross and i have seen high end joints that are gross.I have also seen very good examples of each type of eatery it mainly depends on the management.One thing i have noticed is that the places that have good kitchens by chance also happen to be popular with law enforcement likely because they eat out a lot and in the same general region and the joints that made them sick they avoid. Fun thought for the day.. I have seen tons of people smoking inside kitchens while prepping and cooking food yum extra black pepper.I also once saw a restaurant owner bring her poodle inside the kitchen (huge violation) and then set it down on top of one of the prep tables a cook then pet the dog and did not wash his hands. As for Steak and Shake they seem to be hit or miss they are either very clean or very dirty.You can actually scope them out take a look at the grill next time you are in one then above the grill there will be a ventilation duct those should be clean if they are dirty you can bet that plenty else is dirty. |

I prefer a simple vendor than a McD or Burger King.
You'll see the meat being grilled and choose anything you want inside. No menus. Plus a normal burger is twice the size of a bigmack and half the price with fresh vegetables inside. |

I do have a brother in law that works in the resturant industry. He's a bit of a resturant snob. I suppose its because he's aware of industry standards where as i could care less. The only time I'll turn my nose at a joint is if i have already eaten there and gotten the runs a couple times. Two strikes and your out! (Yeah I'm talking about you Sizzler in Provo! ) |
