No politics, just the truth.

Too late. Politics from the get-go.

Weren't these the same guys who went to war against 6 extremely conservative right wing regimes?

I'm sure Team D and Team R aren't on their minds at the moment.

Yes, my grandfather did, he left college and went into the Army, served in Europe, including D-Day.We have those conversations and will admit, he had a huge problem with Roosevelt, made him sick he was the President but was young and wanted to fight Japanese.Of course, he ended up in Europe but that happens.Times were different, much different. Terrible as Roosevelt was other than his wartime leadership was excellent, he looks like a great President compared to what we have now.Anyways, this was not really political post, was just great to see these vets not let what they earned be denied because of the government's stupid political behavior.

Not until 1919 or so when they created Veterans Affairs. Before that there where only pensions when acts of Congress made them so.Civil War vets for example only received pensions due to special Acts prior to Veterans Affairs which covers 1899 up to modern times(Spanish American War and Philippine Insurrections,Boxer Rebellion those vets got nothing until after Veterans Affairs was established after WWI)

Completely different, providing care for veterans as opposed to the entire population is a way different thing. Also, going on the problems a lot of people encounter with the VA, it's a prime example of why we dont want it in everyone's hc.My grandfather(great grandfather actually) refuses to deal with the VA, although he is entitled to.Fortunately he did well enough for himself that to this day at 94 he does not need the VA.I'm glad the VA is there for vets for trying to say it's same as ACA or government hc for everyone else is rubbish.
