That's one worth saving. :yeah:

I am sure YouTube has some pretty capable UI designers - they certanily can afford them. Unfortunately it looks that moronic managers have a bigger saying:"Screw usability, make it look COOL!" :-?
Another idiotic decision was the addition of on-screen comments and having this turned on by default. "Look here, lol" or "Click here to subscribe to my crappy channel" (a sure way not to get a subscribtion) It annoys me every time I forget to turn it off. If you cannot express your intentions through the vid, well time to work it over. I see Dowly's point regarding ads as a support for people who are worth it. I don't agree with the decision to show them at the start of every video. This way it creates revenue for the user even when after 10 seconds in the vid someone decides it's not worth watching. A better way would be, having it the TV way, after a certain time in the vid - or the folks could just create a good old website, where users who decide to support them can decide to click on ads. So I don't feel bad having disabled ads and also the comment section - it's so refreshing to solely watch a vid without (unintentionally) reading idiotic brainfarts. Finally a tip for everybody who knows that ESC disables fullscreen after having read this for the 1000th time. There's a little program called "Flash Fullscreen Patcher" which disables this annoying overlay which destroys the video flow to me. This has been a decision made by Flash, not YT, but anyways it's still very helpfull in having a better viewing eperience. |
It's just the preparation H for the combining of You Tube, Facebook and Twitter.
Soon to be known as You Twit Face. Pesky roids in the back door ya know? The NSA doesn't want anything blocking the access for their big Dick Cheney. |

Even if you have a good connection, it is like you say, YT can't keep up when their servers seem running on fumes again... and that is quite often since a while. Not cool YouTube! :shifty: |

All that does not compare to the constructive use of internet activity, like kickstarter campaigning to get a business project founded. Also, if they need income to have their stuff posted, let them take entrance fees. That at least is honest. I prefer it to advertising any day. I see what's offered, I decide whether it is worth it to me or not. Done. Also helps against wasting your time with stuff you only visit because "it is free". If you want to see whether something is worth it for people, then look whether or not they are separating with their money. |
For those of you who hate youtubes buffering bull**** (like me, its impossible to watch youtube videos on my connection unless I buffer them first), here is a site that allows you to rip the videos from youtube:
http://keepvid.com/ Also, yeah I agree, youtube has just gone off the deep end in recent years. I wish the good let's players I watch would just stop using it and find an alternative but I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon unless youtube starts really making it a pain in the ass to upload videos. (Seriously its easier for me to UPLOAD videos then it is to watch them) |
It's not just PooTube that they have been messing with. I updated Google Maps on my phone a few weeks back and the simple UI for Navigation has gone down the above mentioned tube.
It used to work fine and now it takes 5 clicks to do what used to take 2 or at most 3.:/\\!! |

In Germany, we call enhancements that just make it all worse "Verschlimmbessern" :D |

Somewhat related, but they updated the android app too, it is actually better.
You can search while playing the video, it (the picture) kinda goes into a postage stamp in the corner. |
The new Android maps program is a lot better, but the site for desktop has gotten so much worse
|
I like YouTube despite the fact that has gotten big and successful, and therefore is not cool anymore. I am also happy that some people can make a living as a YouTuber. It gives me content to watch.
