So you can enjoy the game a little more without all those console-bullcrap "features" like the above a PC player just don't need... or want. |
That's something at least... Path markers always bother me; just becomes about navigating to a point rather than exploring/navigating a map/level.
Pretty vague distinction there, but to me it's the difference between playing something that either feels cohesive (play a map/level) or stitched together (situation by situation). |
Yeah I know what you mean. While you do have your markers, I did not feel like they "pull" me straight towards them. I found many different ways to get to a certain point, it is much(!) better as in conviction, which really was more a rail-shooter then a stealth game where you need a brain.
If you like SC in general, go pick it up on discount, google for the cheapest key store, you won't regret it. Definitely NO need to pick up those ridiculously over priced special editions and what not... |

Much much better than Conviction. |
Dang..... $64 bucks is the going rate for an Xbox game these days?:nope:
Personally I think $59.99 is more than enough for any standard title on any platform and I rarely pay that usually I just wait for the game to go on sale and then buy it on either Steam or GG. In fact the only $59.99 title I have ever purchased was Skyrim come to think of it.I think that Fallout 3 and NV where $50.00 when I purchased them new. I think with the consoles in particular anything over $60.00 is just robbery. Some of those AAA titles sell in the millions so they are making money hand over fist. And these game stores what a joke they give these people next to nothing for a recent title and they turn around and sell it for $10.00 or even $5.00 less than a brand new copy. |

I don't buy new games. The only new games I've ever bought were CoD Black Ops 2 (on sale for 35$), SC: Blacklist, Portal 2, and Skyrim. Compared to my hundreds of used games I've bought and sold. |
No regular game should cost that much, console game prices are ridiculous anyways. I don't understand console players for paying that much - instead of getting it for PC, I mean who doesn't have one these days? All I can do is shake my head about them supporting crap like that.
They pay more for less, literally. As a side effect, the console market is killing good PC titles (Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, ...). It is all being dumbed down for the "new gamer generation" which are mostly "Dude, I don't care, YOLO-SWAG" players who are happy about every bone you throw them... like a regular AAA title for $50 or more. I paid $23.75 / 18€, no way I would have paid more than 25€, not in times where games are being released half-finished and "customer support" consists of "Did you open a support ticket in our great Ubicrap-Super-Help-Center that is really just useless, and all we do is closing your tickets as "resolved" after a while even if we never spoke to you or addressed the problem at all? No? Well then we can't help you, sorry, kthxbai, now go buy more overpriced games that will run like crap before we release two patches in order to make it run for more than 2/3 of the player base and then let the title drop like a hot potato and don't care at all anymore, ever..." Boy am I PISSED about this situation... :/\\!! |

Also, as part of the 'new gamer generation', I can honestly tell you that none of my gaming friends have ever used the term YOLO-SWAG seriously. Most of them only considered getting the Xbox One after it's DRM was removed. Also, I payed $80-$100 (can't remember the exact amount) for Halo 4. Was it worth it? Seeing as I got the game, exclusive content and a full length movie... yes. So next time you go around calling console players younger than you idiots who pay for anything, actually THINK. |

While I appreciate the defense...I didn't take any offense from his post. I agree....Console games cost way too much...but there are certain ones that are worth it. Both of you have a point though. (And I haven't even bought Halo 4 yet) :O: |

I don't know and don't care if you or your friends belong/fit into this picture, I made my own experiences in the last 20 years of gaming and are quite concerned about the development. Quote:
My point was the opposite. Games that fail to deliver (buggy release, broken features, missing features that have been promised, ...) and STILL cost a crapload of money. And to be honest, I think my example is definitely the more common one, or do you disagree? My prime-example, Ubisoft, is doing this for years. They release games unfinished, charge a huge amount of money and then let the player down. I did not make this up, go browse the Ubi forums, it's a blast! :dead: Quote:
If you go to a restaurant, the menu says "Fresh Pizza with Salami, Cheese and Tomatoes for $30" and what you get is a barely warm (not fresh) Pizza that is missing the Salami, what would you do? Would you say "Hey, I did not get what I was promised, but hey, I like Pizza, so I come here again and show the owner that he can charge me ridiculous prices for half the things promised."? I don't think so. Yes, yes, the comparison might not be the best, but you'll get my idea I hope. |

As nippelspanner said, you can turn off certain elements of the HUD. I have mine set to auto hide, so for the most part it's not there. If you play with the perfectionist difficulty it's pretty much like playing Chaos Theory with a little more control over your character. As for the Ironside aspect, I think the acting benefit they supposedly got from switching over is negligible. There are times where the new guy can pull of Ironside, but for the most part I think he sounds too young and feels like he is missing the sarcastic charm. One of the biggest flaws I had is that I played through the series again before playing blacklist. While certain titles changed the controls slightly it was pretty much the same. However going from Conviction to Blacklist left me fumbling for a little bit trying to adjust to the new controls, while they add a lot of flexibility and unique options(the ability to toggle fire mode on assault rifles for example) they seem counter intuitive to what I expect from SC. However this is just a console problem as you can probably customize your controls on PC. Another gripe is that certain side missions are the same thing just on a different map. While they have story contextual stuff, they seem a bit weak. And this is surprising for me to say, since I don't especially care for multiplayer in my story/console games, but the Spies vs Mercenaries is pretty damn fun. One side plays as the spies from a 3rd person perspective, and the other plays as mercenaries from FPS perspective with alien-esque motion sensor(red dot appears on it with beeping sounds when someone is moving in front of you). In classic mode the spies have to capture data terminals while the Mercs have to defend them. After 4 minutes, teams switch. One of the most notable things to multiplayer is the dynamic lights generated by the mercenaries flashlights. Not something you really notice in single player because your character doesn't generate light. For the most part this is a pretty good game, with a few small hiccups. |

Throwing noisemakers when I want to crouch... I'd try out Perfectionist...but I let my friend borrow the game as soon as I finished it the other day. He was going insane from the wait... :har: Quote:
