Well be default the only Akikaze in TMO(and RSRD far as I know) is Bungo Pete in Area 7.I have added a lot of traffic and put 4 or 5 of them in various areas, mostly going off some research I did, took a little liberty, few having a 50/50 chance ending up in some convoys as an escort.

Patrol Boat 102(from TMO) is pretty tough.PB 102 from RSRD(different models, the RSRD model incorrectly has 3 stacks not 4 as the real PB 102 did) but never given me as much of a fit.I added Patrol Boat 102 and a Type C escort to Dasol Bay in August 1944, its the group USS Harder attacked( and was sunk by) , they are tough.I have only engaged them once, I actually sunk Patrol Boat 102 with a spread of mark 14's from 1,000 yards, one hit her stern, set off catastrophic chain explosion from her depth charges. The Type C Escort(supposed to be CD-22 which is credited with destroying Harder) sank me.Elite escorts with plenty of depth charges are tough.

Whatever the number, it's frickin relentless. :o

I ran into it once...only once...and I will definitely steer clear of it if I run into it again.

EDIT: That wasn't even my worst experience with depth charges! The worst experience came from a lucky shot from a shore battery and a subchaser.

Details on the the above encounter, please.:arrgh!:

Okay. I'll share it again.

I was transiting the mighty Pacific Ocean until I was in one of the straits (can't remember which, it was in the South Pacific). It was around 0200 so i decided so run at decks awash through the strait. At 0300 I surfaced completely and ran for a little bit until suddenly, my boat was hit in the bow by a shell from a shore battery some ways off. I quickly dived to radar depth to check the area....and then it started....

I was sinking by the bow. :nope: SURFACE! Next, I changed speed to ahead standard to keep from sinking. I was just almost done with pumping water out of the bow and diving back to radar depth when sonar reports a warship short range, moving fast, closing!

$%#($*%&#$(!

Well...I was able to make it to a tolerable periscope depth. I couldn't see the subchaser....my boat was still at a bit of an angle so when I face the periscope rearward i'm looking down at the water. It was off in one of my blind spots.

So I dived, not knowing how close it was only to have depth charges drop not 10 minutes later. I'm still running at ahead two thirds to keep a normal angle. I still had flooding and the angle was getting bad again. I was sticking out of the water at this point.

Depth Charges Galore!

More flooding, more damage, more sinking.

Now, I was at like 70 degrees up angle and I was running at ahead flank to stay up.

I knew then, I had to surface.

I surface and managed to actually kill the thing with my deck gun! (That big gun on the Gar class is awesome) And I started to move away.

Then, I sank. Right there on the surface. Sank like a rock.

I was making something like 45 knots when I died from sinking so fast. :dead:

There's the short version of what happened in that patrol.

I wish I could say I have more experience splashing around in the Pacific... but in the other ocean...

...just seeing a Black Swan makes me feel cold and wet every time.

Cheers from the ETO.:salute: Sorry to interrupt.

As a former Grey Wolf, I can agree with that.

Pretty much anything flying a flag of the allies was dangerous....unless it's French....we all know they don't fight. :har:

I see I'm gonna have to have you arrested again and start another hearing. I can't tolerate these lies anymore.

I haven't even played two full patrols since the last "hearing" :hmmm: :dead:

One of these days, I'll actually do another career report and the Admiral won't be part of it this time. He's welcome to join as an observer...but it's my boat...my rules.

I cannot tolerate the Admiral's "truth" anymore.

Now take my Mk 27's! :O: Yes, a LTCDR just threatened an Admiral with Cutie Torpedoes. :)

"Mr. Jenkins. Make tubes 1-4 ready in all respects. We're firing on the Admiral's PT Boat..." :haha: "...and when we're done we're going to set sail for Matalava Island and we're going to send some shells for Father Goose!"

I think enough has been said here. :know: NO MORE HEARINGS! :O:

Admiral Armistead,

It sounds like Red is conspiring to "desert" the United States Navy and start his own fleet. He may even join Mr. Snowden and seek "asylum" in another country. However sir, as you and I are both aware, based on his past history I'm afraid the only asylum he will find is in an insane asylum. :/\\!!

Please advise if you wish to continue "shadowing" the suspect's activities or if you wish to detain the subject and file charges due to these recent threats. :know:

I really don't like those subchasers that patrol in the harbor while I'm raiding. There's usually just the one in Truk harbor that patrols around at night and pisses me off.

I have been to Truk quite a few times and I do not recall seeing any less than six escorts there. Some patrol inside the lagoon and some have patrol zones outside the lagoon.

If you're like me, when you get detected by even one, you know you've messed up somewhere.

Usually when I go to Truk, I come through the South port through the small channel. I run very slow at the bottom under the layer.

If I get detected, I've not done something right and made too much noise

Popeye the Salior 08-06-13 05:55 PM

I just surface to tack out subchasers.

Red has already disgraced himself as a Subsim Captain beyond repair. We should've hanged him last time.
