Probably the most fun dogfight I've ever been in was way back when the 4.09 patch was still the norm for IL-2. I don't off hand remember if it was an event that Oberon, Hunter or myself was hosting. But I do remember myself and SgtPotato going at each other, him in a Bf-110 and myself in a Gloster Gladiator bi-plane, and I was singing "I am stringbag man, dun-un-dun, stringbag bag man!" What was the most bizarre thing was my Gladiator wasn't turned into shreds by Potato's 110 and my Gladiator didn't manage to nick the paintwork on Potato's 110.

I know exactly what you're talking about. In IL-2, if you turn on the blackouts/redouts, the screen goes black when the pilot dies. Just the other night I was flying and I was still a good distance away from the I-15s I was fighting and the screen suddenly went black. I didn't think the I-15's could shoot that far...but I got sniped. At first I thought that the game had crashed until I pressed F2. Air Combat can be quick and relentless in Biplanes... |
Had a whole bunch of nice little furballs in War Thunder. One I remember fondly was when I was chased for several minutes by an enemy (can't remember what plane any of us used), I did all kind of tricky flying to get him off but he was on me like a leech...FINALLY I manage to get an opening and somehow I found him in my crosshairs, a short but deadly burst later I rose to the skies as the victor! Felt mighty proud!

I am flying the DCG Finnish campaign, winter war. It is great fun, my flight with buffalos, another with Fiat G.50's and the third with Moranes. We are fighting I-15 , I-16, SB and DB soviets. Only thing is the campaign takes too long. I saw our campaign goal is to hold out till march, and we fly every day since december. I am worried I have to fight over a 100 flights to go to the next stage (and plane ofc). But the fighting is sweet.:salute:
