I want a one-fix mod that deals with all the known issues - what I don't want to have to do is start tweeking and messing around.
GWX does all that in one go - ive never had any serious issues with it - GWX is like a comfy pair of slippers.
so I believe - at the moment - SH5 has a fare way to go.
and thank you for link, I have it marked in case I get a rash of enthusiasm for it! :salute:

If you want to see how the game should've been delivered from the start use my Generic Patcher to patch the game files to remove bugs and add functionality. Then install a UI mod (of course I'm biased to my UIs mod). Then install my IRAI mod for the AI fix. Then install an environment mod (Dynamic environment is a good one). Then install my FX_Update mod to fix/improve the effects. Then install OHII for campaign improvements/additions. THAT is how the game should've been delivered from the start :yep:

This is a very common response to the SH5 forums work:yep:

What I don't get is this:-
Why do people who do not want to learn how set this game up to work the way it should, want to play a complex simulator anyway:06:
By its very nature it will have a long learning curve.

...because it requires a lot of spare time and patience and energy to do so. and some people, like me for example, don't have a lot of time to spare with work, children, other external commitments which eat away the hours.
I have work - a personal project, in the evenings too, I need a couple of hours to attend to this, and at weekends my children are here. so its very difficult to find time for this wonderful sim which I am eager to get on board with.
I hope that with the love and determination of the modders that one day we'll have a one stop fix, until then im looking for time...

I am optimist on this point, but we need for more modders and... more (modding) time :)

But those people, including me, want to spend that time learning to play the actual game and trying to work out how to get it to work. I fancied playing a sub sim yesterday, installed the game, then went through Sober's list of mods downloading each one. Obviously I did something wrong, but after a few hours all I had was a game that crashes to desk top.

I think I know were I went wrong, and will have another attempt later today, but I would have preferred to spend those hours at sea working out how to use by boat rather than downloading mod after mod.

I do need to say, I do appreciate all the hard work the modders put into the game.

Hi there

I played SH3 with GWX, NYGM, WAC and stock.
I liked particularly of the combination GW (since 2.0) and SHgen.
Wac also gave me very tense moments. After this, getting DCharged by BBs on SH5 can be frustrating (lol)

I believe modders should focus on single Project and get organized in a group like GW team was. Today I am downloading Sober´s all in one which i see as a BIG step ahead, to build a package.
Keep the good work guys!!

I agree..... If it had been like this for AOTD when I first started (as a youngster) I probably would have ended up shelfing the game.:shifty: Tho you could expect a level of quality out of the box (and a manual) in those days.....so there's that. :dead:

...I have worked in a voluntary service for 8 years. and believe me, working along side other professionals who are earning good money whilst I did it for nothing required stamina, belief and a buttoned lip!

hats off to the modders here at Silent Hunter 5:salute:
without you the game is dead. please don't give up.
im willing to hold my breath, for this one:up:
