headlights are automatic on so many vehicles today - i hate that.

My fiance's are automatic, mine arent... every time i drive her car she grumbles because i throw it in park and turn off the lights

"Baby dont do that because now they wont come on automatically" :haha:

-wow- sorry about costing you that millisecond it takes to twist the knob:-?

May I ask why you don't use them? It may not help your driving but makes your own car a bit easier to spot.

Some of us don't like having every little thing done for us. I hate the thing that automatically locks all the doors at 15 mph. My car is old enough that it doesn't have that. I drive a stick shift whenever I can.

I must admit, I'm not a fan of many cars made after 1990, I can't stand power steering, and hate all the electronics and computers that are crammed into cars now. It's just making the pipe-work too complicated so it plugs up more, thus justifying the cost of the repair guy who comes out with his computer to reprogram the car because the days of being able to fix it yourself are gone unless you have a degree in electrical engineering. :nope:

@GoldenRivet :D
Situations where lack of lights have been problem are in intersection (from two smaller roads to highway) where at certain times of day sun comes directly behind traffic at low angle. This causes low profile car without headlights it "blends" into forest background. If headlights are on there is usually no problem at all as those lights stand out from background even if you are dazzled by sunlight. This problem doesn't happen with semis, buses and other taller vehicles as they are silhouetted against tree line.

I have been in passenger's seat when near miss happened because of it and as result feel a bit uneasy when people drive without headlights. :salute:

No citizen needs a motorcycle with 32hp! It is time we start banning high capacity motorcycle engines. Think of the children!!

I am sure that a 10hp engine is sufficient for ordinary citizens.

After leaving work around 7:30 I was stopped by the law in South Houston. The officer said "I stopped you because your headlight isn't working." I was on my 1975 Suzuki 380.

I had seen the cop car a few minutes earlier, probably before he saw me, and made sure I came to complete stops at the intersections. I said, "well, the headlight works, I switch it on when it gets dark." I showed him the switch. He's too young to remember the days when bikes had a headlight switch.

Then he said, "It took me a while to catch up with you, you were haulin' ass". I paused to consider how to reply. I'm on a motorcycle with 32 HP, dude! But I didn't say that. "Well, I may have been going a little fast," I replied with pride. You never win when you contradict a police officer, so wth, I may as well accept the compliment.

Several times he asked if he knew me, I looked familiar. I get that ALL the time, I don't know what's going on but people are always saying I look like this guy or sound like that guy....weird. Maybe the officer thought I was a city council member....

He asked me to sit tight while he ran my licence. As the denizens of the hood passed by with their borrowed Family Dollar shopping carts, I nodded, "yeah, that's right, I'm an outlaw..."

The officer returned, thanked me for stopping, and admitted that the problem he may have had keeping up with me had something to do with the speed bumps on the ~3/4 mile street we had just traveled down. "You were going through the gap in the bumps, I had to slow down and pass over them." Hmmm... yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Anyway, no ticket! The officer was professional and I have to laugh, a little bamboozled by the headlight switch.

@looking familiar
That is weird. I was thinking the same. To me you look like the guy from "How I met your mother", the guy who is with the red haired girl.
