Anyone know aprox how far away during daytime can you navigate surfaced before a merchant task force notices you? I know in night time it's about 3000 mts., hell, I've been about 1000 mts. behind a destroyer, in it's baffles, and still it'd not notice me in night time.

Hi Fifi. The Crew Spotting only applies when at decks awash, just to be clear. So you have to balance the positive effects against the negative. 7.2 gives a lot more than it takes away. Ideally, yes, you would want to have crew spotting whilst at D/A but 7.2 gives you the independent engine control buttons as well as the D/A button. Personally, I've only used D/A like twice, because most of the time the sea is just too rough to use it. However, I love fiddling with differant engine settings, so there's that. Anyway, I would try both to see which is better for you. Just my 3 sence. Gute Jagd Quote:
Depending on the fog, I would stay at least 1km behind, if you are playing with IRAI. In real clear weather I'll just keep the smoke in sight, I figure if I'm tailing them I'm either waiting for Dark or the Wolfpack. If they have escorts all bets are off. Radar might become an issue at some point. I like to do the "run around" keeping 1km distance and try to keep somewhat ahead of them. One more thing. As far as escorts go, as the game progresses, I think they get better and better as their technology does. So what is good today might not be good tomorrow. That's all part of the fun...??:salute: |
