Made a couple skins on the slow computer, lost my fast testing computer to a loose connection. Connection fixed, skinning resumes tomorrow.
edit: Just realized I'm on my fast computer, pic from S3D: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/...ke0/Proof3.jpg |
Looking Good!:salute:

Should I drop a preview model download here? JSGME ready?
I need good feedback. I still need to skin some models and add some details (torpedo tube doors, interlocks, piping, engine room gauges, piping, valves) but I'd like to get some feedback regardless. |
For me, screen shots of the work in progress are good enough. I can wait for the completed mod.
:salute: |
hooyah. I'm having a mid-winter slump, it's hard to turn on the computer and skin something when I can just sit and read lol.
I also just realized that I painstakingly created a completely wrong part... :nope: But! I did find some new resources to look at! :yeah: Mostly I love making the models, but it's hard to "paint" them for me. I want to just open the model and spray-paint it the right color and pattern :hmm2: Anyone know how to do that, or is good at skinning but doesn't like modeling? Gonna re-make that part and work on the TTs some more. |
Keep on truckin' Postalbyke. I love your work. You and FlakMonkey should team up!
:ping:  |
Back into the modelling side, looking online for inspiration. Anyone seen any pics of the space forward of the diesels? It looks like there's a ventilation fan there and a pump, but it's hard to address without pics.
I also thought I'd seen a ventilation lineup diagram for a type II or the Vesikko, but can't seem to find it anymore... In other news, I found a countour map for the Vesikko, gotta follow up on that discovery (it's in Italian!) It also claims to have a contour map of type IIc or d (I need to re-read and translate) but I'm not sure about the lines, they look a little "square"... Anyrate! still alive and kicking! I got some details of the rudder steering mechanism put in, waiting to see how gung-ho I feel about completing that, and I got some more valves and stuff put in the torpedo room (nothing big yet) As a reminder, January 14 is my due-date, and it will be released regardless of completion! (work will continue after, but I've got math, physics, chemistry, and computers to compete for my time, so after that it will be slow again!) |
Just got the Engine Room framing and some details modeled and added, no skins yet. I have decided to focus on models, (there shouldn't be too many more), then work on skinning 'til my deadline!
screeny as follows: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/...ke0/Proof5.jpg (I might skin the frames real quick and go into the game to photograph them.) (Or I might do the same thing to the Torpedo Room) |
This looks very very good , cant wait to see the finish product.

A couple of years ago I found a finnish website to a museum for the Vesikko-class submarine (A.K.A Type II). You've got some pictures there. The site also links to some 360 panorama images. I hope it helps... http://www.vesikko.fi/ EDIT: I should read whole posts before responding. I see you're already on it... Sorry. |
No worries, bro! I appreciate any and all suggestions! I've found some good photos on flikr, geolocation, I even found several more panoramas, but i've lost their location now, think I found it on the original "who wants to finish this torpedo room" thread... I also had some success with image searches for cv707, vesikko, etc.
I downloaded silent hunter 5 recently, and although it doesn't work smoothly on my computer, I'm enjoying the atmosphere greatly, despite its lack of our favourite dugout canoe :D |
Okay! The Big Moment!
It's not done, but I promised a product on a deadline, so here it is! (I really hope someone has time to fix this in the next coupla months...)(Hint: Silent3ditor and Lithunwrap are your friends! It's easy! It's free!) Get it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=201398 |

I'm sorry, FM! If I'd-a-known, I would have waited 'til tomorrow night :P
But seriously, If you know anyone who's good at textures or shadows, could you give them a ding and ask for help? :hmm2: |
