After a long lay off,im back ready for SH4....im actually itching for it
I was a rubbish skipper to be honest but im determined to get it this time.......:arrgh!:

Thing is i want to add mods(TMO 2.5 and RSRD only for now) this time around before i head for open water

Ive downloaded JSGME but i cannot see an option to intall-the JSGME window just pops up

Ive looked here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeoxLx8_JMM

Here:http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...n-Step-by-Step

The guide that comes with the latestversion of JSGME.......

And yes here also:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=installing+jsgme......:D

I these are all conflicting installation guides,i am fairly computer literate so i wouldnt need a complete step by step instuction guide, just some bullet points

Help please

I don't follow you when you say "the JSGME window just pops up". You have JSGME installed into the main Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific folder, but no mods are in the left pane of JSGME?

Well then, why hasn't this problem been corrected?

.....

Especially sticky links posted by the head man himself?

just to set the record straight, neal created the sh4 popular mods thread but i am the one who took over the responsability to put the mod lists together and try to maintain it so if anything was missed thats on me not neal. lets blame the right guy here :timeout:

anyone can PM me whatever issue you have and i will fix it or try to get it addressed as soon as i can. if its in another forum then look to see who created it and PM them or whoever is listed as the forum modderator and PM them, i can only fix things in forums i am listed in so please keep this in mind.

now to your complaint, there are 3 different replies in that thread with good links to get jsgme so the OP got the link he was looking for which took care of the original complaint so AFAIK the situation had been resolved.

i understand being frustrated with a slow response at times or an issue that goes unfixed but we have lives outside of subsim and neal is as buisy as a turkey trying to hide on thanksgiving so he gets to things when he can but the small stuff often takes time to get to.

neal has his hands full running the website so while everyone thinks its ok to PM him for every little thing its the forum modderators jobs to run the forums and neal runs the modderators and the admin of the whole website so he doesnt have time to fix everyones individual issues most of the time. for account issues, avatar issues, website administration issues, problems with a modderator, these things are issues to PM neal about but the rest is best handled and will be resolved quicker if handled by your forum modderators.

thank you for understanding

When I started playing again recently, with a fresh installation, I had to re-learn how to do the mods. This link is what I used.

Copy JSGME.ini, JSGME.exe, and the MODS folder into your SH$ installation directory. Put the mods in MODS, and then run JSGME.exe.

As razark said, those 5 files need to have been placed into your Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific game folder (wherever you have it). Looks like you put them into their own folder named "JSGME", found on your desktop. Don't just put the "JSGME" folder that's on your desktop into the Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific game folder. Those four files, and one folder (the MODS folder), need to each be added separately to the main game folder (you can copy/paste all five at once, just don't have them in a folder inside the main game folder).

Once pasted there, make sure you follow the directions found in the .txt document that refers to making a "snapshot" of your clean game file before adding mods to the game.

When you're ready to add mods to JSGME's "MODS" folder, open the compressed mod after you've downloaded it......have it "extracted" to the "MODS" folder (use the browse feature to point the extraction process to the main game folder, then to the MODS folder held within). The mod should show up on the left side of the JSGME app when you open it. Highlight the mod on the left side, and use the center arrow key to move it over to the "Activated" right side pane. Start the game once you've closed out of JSGME.

That "JSGME_setup" file you're talking about is what would have automatically put these same 5 files into the SH Wolves of the Pacific game folder. Since you have them on your desktop, just move them over to the game folder. Next time you download the JSGME app (or any mod you plan to download), why don't you "save" the download rather than "running" it from wherever you found the download? Save it in the computers "Download" folder. This way when you open the JSGME compressed download, you'll see the JSGME_setup file, and be given the chance to "browse" to your main game folder and have JSGME installed directly into it, not onto your desktop. You'll want to do this for the mods you'll try, so you can have them extracted to the "MODS" folder of JSGME. Saving the compressed mod files will require extra space to hold the download and the extracted mod, but you'll have it available if you wish to extract it again for some reason.
