Well, you have me there. I've never been a fan of army movies in general, but for some reason Hell In The Pacific rocked me at the time. But that comes down to a matter of personal taste. I'm sure there are others.

Now that you mention it I'll bet it is a fairly common story line.

I worked at a community raqdio station in Nevada City, Ca. years ago and one of the late-night "talk show hosts" did a takeoff on Carlin's theme with about a 5 min story he called " The Kingdom of Fa"; and yes, among other things that the FCC called about the next day, in attempt to fine the station was what he called the King..
