Great job. Is there any chance of seeing "HMS Sydney" and her sister ships? Or the "Exeter"? One of my favorite things about Silent Hunter II was that nearly all of the famous Allied cruiser classes were eventually completed by modders. The more cruisers, the merrier.

Thank you iambecomelife.

Yes I'am also a big cruiser fan, and despite they are not found very often when you patrol in your boat, I love their looks in the WW2 time frame. Everybody loves the battleships and the big guns, but I consider cruisers much sexier.

With regard to the Leanders and Mod-Leanders, the frog did an excellent set for SH3, and I think that someone converted them to SH4.

Right now I'm finishing a number of ships I had already modeled in 3D but needed that last push that I couldn't understand, and unfortunately the Exeter was not one of them.

The Belfast needs tweaking in (I guess) the .zon file. A single torpedo will now sink it, which is a bit weird for a +10000 cruiser. I have to check it. I still need to test Abdiel's durability, but having used the Tribal as a base I think it will behave more realistically to damage.

Hopefully someday I will be happy enough with the results to release them :har:

What a pity! For downloading I would not register. Why not Mediafire? Otherwise see your models really good! :up:

Apologies, I didn't know you had to register to download files. Here is a different link in another server:

I'm not using Mediafire because they delete files :down:.

@iambecomelife:

The modified Leander (Perth) class I did was modelled along the lines of HMAS Perth but has textures representing HMAS Sydney. HMAS Sydney differed from her sisters in that not being refitted and still carrying 4'' single AA guns. That can be fixed by adding a loadout with the appropriate guns, which are in the guns_UK.dat that came with the Algerine Class minesweepers.

@JapLance:

Did you use the *.zon file of the Fiji Class for the Belfast? The Baltimore.zon might give soemwhat better results.

Belfast test:

The main guns (6in _Triple_turret_UK) are not in the stock version (1.4)! Where did you get it?

More testing coming soon ....

The British guns (and several other items) come with the U-boat Missions addon

I started with the Fiji .zon file, and then added a few more boxes in the hull. I also changed the armor level of the boxes where the armor belt would be from -1 to 10. According to S3D, -1 is a general armor (maybe relative to the ship class?), so I thought that being a large cruiser, it may not be the most appropriate and changed it to 10 (in cm. according to S3D, about 4in, which I think is about the real armor width). Hopefully this changes will make her a bit more resilient.

In the readme it states that you need SH4 updated to 1.5.

Does anybody have comments to make about the Belfast? Any bugs?

In the meantime I've been busy:

I'm particularly happy with this one, because I did the hull myself instead of reusing one of the stock ones. It took me some extra time, but to compensate I kept using some Fiji parts (masts, radars, cranes, funnels) :haha:. Still far from finished, but it looks good.

Hello JapLance thanks for this beautiful cruiser. I love the cruisers of the Royal Navy during the war and, of course, belongs to this class.
many thanks to you and all the others hard-working shipbuilders there.

sorry for my bad english

good hunting

JapLance 11-21-12 01:55 AM

Thank you Volta, I appreciate that.

Another WIP, this time useful for the Mediterranean Campaign:

I had done an early attempt when creating the campaign, but I was not really satisfied with the results. This one looks much better.

The Town class cruiser is now available for downloading:

And also the files for the Japanese light cruiser Yubari:

Hopefully I will have the Abdiel-class minelayer ready to upload in a few days.
