They still use the venerable Shoebox too, it's amazing how they're still slugging on after all these years. Shows what a good design it is, good, cheap, robust and rugged. |

Porca miseria - I messed it up this time.
The news of the day is not that the M1A1 is playable - it has been that all the years. And the video shows not the M1A2 now playable - unfortunately. They just replaced the old 3D interior for the A1 with a newer one. The A2 seems to stay AI-only. I question that priority. I would have invested the working time for a new Abrams cockpit into the A2. Sorry for having confused it. |

I thought Canada only ran Leo's and not Abrams :hmmm:

I am sure that they tested and considered the Abrams, however, since in the past 8 years Canada planned to replace its aging Leo-1 fleet. They wanted to go for Strykers with 105 mm guns, but then came Afghanistan and forced them to rethink their plan, and so they started to buy used Leo-2A4s, and leased Leo-2A6, modified, for immediate deployment to Afghanistan, where the tanks urpassed Canadian expecations, they said. The plan to pass on new tanks and go for the CV-90-120 also was scrapped. A factor that decided in faovur of the Leo-2 A4s and A6s was quick availability, however. |
