One word.
SUCKS!!

I'd rather drive than fly. Have driven there once, flown there once. We actually got there quicker when we drove, even though we printed our directions off of the internet five minutes before we left and got lost twice. :haha:

My passport doesn't expire for another 10 years or so.... Privateer, everything connected to Chicago sucks. CCIP what part of N.A. are we talking about? Shucks Indiana is a little more central location. Not so sure about their attractions that would appeal to us though.

It looks to me like everyone is stretching the point of Privateer's original post. He was just curious to see if any local members would be interested in getting together for a day.

On the other hand, I'm aware of at least four members who live here in Utah, and I've never even been able to get any of them to talk to me, much less agree to get together for lunch. People talk about cross-country trips, but in reality seem to be reluctant to even meet each other.

People vary! I suppose that's the beauty of actual meets, the people who go are really eager to meet the others. It's fine if not everybody who frequents Subsim feels that way. I suppose going to hang out with a bunch of people from the internet might not seem like the most mature or interesting thing to some people. On the other hand, I've had awesome experiences with this sort of thing. Met some of my best real-life friends through mutual hobbies online.

Otherwise just tossing some ideas around, really. It's never a bad idea to think about these things, since it takes forever for Subsim meets to come together. I'm sad that I missed the recent meets, so I'm certainly looking forward to my next chance!

Then there's me:D.

It'd be fun to put together something for next year. We kicked around the idea of London at the last subsim meet. (2010)

The sad thing about the last one, everybody bailed at the last second, but it worked out, we had a great time, made some new friends, saw A LOT of ships.

I'm game for something in the Pacific NW, (seattle, Portland, or SanFran) or Chcago would be cool, the subsim clubhouse is always a winner too.

A big problem is getting someone to host and organize everything.

I agree....but I'll hang my hat on:

On a side note, I've been kicking around the idea of going to London on my own.:hmmm:

I don't know how expensive it would be though, or where to stay, yadda yadda yadda.

Some people prefer to keep their Internets Tubes life separate from their real life, and prefer to keep their net friends separate from their real-life friends.

People are different. That's to one thing that is same about all of us. :D

Portland would be awesome. Lots to see and within good driving distance for me :D

I also think San Diego has been overlooked for alot of these things. Great weather, rich Naval history including good museums (Walking the deck of the USS Midway is always a good day out).

Isn't he getting wed next year? In York iirc? York subsim meet 2012 it is then! :yeah:

That's the original York (aka Eboracum or Jorvik), not the one in PA, not the New one in, err, New York.

I'd be up for anywhere in the UK, but it'd have to be cheapish!!!
