Totally wrong - the U.S. will liberate us by an indescriminate bombing campaign followed swiftly by ground troops wooing the local females with their nylons and chocolate. It will ask us to join them as an equal partner and we will (join them, not be equal!), barring the tights and chocolate. Sadly our WMDs were all sold off to up-and-coming dictatorships in the '50s thru '80s. :nope:

Resistance is futile...

In terms of where I stand on it, well until we find ourselves a decent alternate energy source then it's a necessary evil.

Fracking is supposedly OK, but you do have to wonder if screwing with the bedrock is going to come back to haunt us. I know that there's one area in PA where fracking resulted in the gas leaking into the groundwater, which is now flammable...

Just seen a video on the BBC website where people are igniting methane coming out of their taps for the first 5-6 seconds before water! :o

They'll not be laughing when they receive their gas bill :DL

at least be happy that no one tries to block its extraction.
20% of newly found shale gas deposits in Poland have already been bought by Russians. The minister of economy said: "even if a slight number of companies(right...20%)goes into Russian hands, there will be no problems with extractions of other spots". In practice it means that soon there will be no difference in prize between Russian and Polish gas.

It is "highly probable" that shale gas test drilling triggered earth tremors in Lancashire, a study has found.
