Until 1943 I shoot four torpedoes per shot. Impact pistol only 5 foot depth.

Pretty sure to get one detonation and probably two. However there have been times I am 0 for 4. One mission in Alaska I was 0-6 where all six hit and were duds. :damn:

Problems with torpedoes is an unfortunate part of WWII history. :yep:

Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. At least twice. Usually more. :yep:

Not a good choice. German torps had similar problems early in the war. In fact, part of the problems of the US torps were "inheritated" by the German torps as they were (in part) a "copy" of the German design.

If you really want to avoid torp problems join the Imperial Navy (British or Japanese :D).

Huh. Ive only had a few dudes with german torps. I guess im just a lucky guy.

The other way to deal with it is load the MK 10's. They are much more reliable in the game.
Honestly they're probably more reliable than they should be...those things were old.

As bad as the Mk 14's were, they were works of art compared to the air dropped Mk 13s :yep:

Now THAT was a torpedo with problems.

It was my understading that for the initial years of the war, german and american torpedo problems were very similar, and that they only improved from 1943 on, on both sides.

Yes I have. I was playing the PRACTICE MISSION for torpedo attacks because I was teaching myself how to use the manual TDC. After about 5 minutes of messing with stuff I shot a torpedo, it went into that super awesome circle running track, hit my conning tower, my ship sank. I died. Mission over.
